Someone being to lazy to put their shopping cart away and leaving it in the middle of a parking spot! Drives me mad!

Pulled into Kroger yesterday and there was a cart in the middle of the parking space yet the the thing that holds the carts was right next to that spot! It just baffles me how lazy some people can be.

To add on to that....people who steal shopping carts. I've seen shopping cards for drugstores like 10 blocks away in the middle of a sidewalk just abandoned there lol.

After all these years...surely some store can come up with a way to prevent their shopping carts from being abandoned in parking lots of just stolen. Some places have it where you insert money so if you want to abandon it or steal it,you won't get your money back(in Canada, some places are just 25 cents, but cause it's Canada, they sometimes make it be $1 or $2 since we have coins for that)

They have a way, it is called Lot Associate. Some stores have them, some don't. Walmart, Home Depot and a few grocery store chains have that position. The worker sole purpose is to stand outside all day gathering carts.

Yet there's still a Walmart cart in my parking lot nearly a mile from the store. ****ing Saginaw

Or use technology and intelligent carts that have wheel locks that engage if somebody tries to roll past a perimeter. These have been in use for years.

These really exist? That must be expensive as hell to install into 1,000 carts. Not sure a company like Walmart would give enough ****s to save the 1 or 2 carts that may get taken in a given year. That money could be better spent price gouging local companies out of business

When I worked at Walmart we didn't have that position.

Yup. There's a red line out in the parking lot designating the perimeter. The brakes only installed on one wheel and lock briefly for the first 15 feet or so past the line and then they lock up till brought back within the perimeter.

Most Walmart and Targets here have them installed. It's got to be much more then 1 or 2 losses a year in areas of large homeless population. I've routinely seen guys pulling a train of 3 or 4 tied together loaded with their belongings.
