Working in a stock position for a retail company, I can help with this.

Online probably pulls from the inventory a store posts. I can't tell you how often our store says we have an item and we don't. There's many reasons for this. Some are still mysterious to me. How our inventory says we have one more large piece of furniture then we actually has still baffles me. Probably somewhere along the line, a label was misplaced, then scanned into our inventory on an item it didn't match. Other times, error on the store's part. Our stock team is small but not everybody can do everything, so if someone good isn't there, mistakes happen more frequently. That's just been my personal experience.

You can change stock inventory manually but usually it just slips through the cracks. Perfect world, those mistakes get dealt with immediately after the fact but you know how that goes...

I'll back him up here.

Whenever I worked at Best Buy, there would be times where our inventory list would say we had one of something, and we had none. There was times where it said we had none, but we had 15.

Whenever you have one or two people trying to deal with the inventory in one area, and hundreds of items in that one area, something's bound to happen.

I think it's similar to when someone asks me to turn down the TV and I start turning it way up for a few seconds just to bother them before finally doing what they've asked of me.

When people don't understand traffic sensors. Like, they either pull 10 feet behind the sensor or pull past it.. so now you're just sitting at a red light with no one moving because the sensors don't know you're ****ing there.

I hate that and it always seems like when I'm in a rush some idiot in front of me does it. And then we sit through two cycles.
