Friday I received in the mail a juror summons for the City to be "on call" between January 20th and April 19th. This would be okay if I wasn't an accountant and filing taxes 10 hours a day during that time period.

This will be the second year in a row I'm on on call for jury duty. Last year, however, was for the regional court system.

Overall this will be the third time I've been on call in the span of 3.5 years. I've only received one notice to appear and that case was dismissed when I called.

Yay.

Didn't grind my gears when I got selected. It was a week long trial and I didn't have to go to work..

However, I wouldn't want to be on a federal one, being sequestered with no tv, no communication allowed, etc...

Great point. I fully supported the way Sherman handled himself. At least he's not giving bull**** answers. He was passionate about what he said, and he never got personal. He kept it on the field.

Yeah I believe Sherman did backup what he said with his performance on the field, unlike former Eagles WR Freddie Mitchell, but I still don't see what the big deal is with how a player cooperates with the media.

It's part of their contractual obligation and also part of the CBA. It's one thing for a dude to talk trash or even be flat-out stupid, it's another to just be an ignorant dick and not even answer someone's questions. I despise the media, but those guys have mouths to feed also.

If the guy was asking him personal questions like, "hey, how's your sex life?", then I'd understand. They're being asked questions about WHAT THEY FREAKING DO FOR A LIVING.

It's just pure arrogance and ignorance.

I don't completely disagree with you. Like you said, it is part of their contract to talk to the media, but I think that their performance on the field/court should speak for itself. I just think their conversations with the media should be taken with a grain of salt. As fans, we judge them solely based on their performance week-by-week.

What grinds my gears is people who pretend to act like they give a **** what these athletes say when in reality, you're more concerned with them helping your team win ON the field/court/ice than WTF they have to say after a win/loss.

And LMFAO @ "these guys have mouths to feed". I'm sorry, who's stopping them from getting paid again and putting food on the table? Don't worry I'll wait...

And those mouths are getting fed. It's their job to get answers. If Marshawn Lynch says "Thanks for asking", the reporter writes down "Thanks for asking" and TA-DA! the reporter does EXACTLY what they got hired to do, and gets a paycheck.

It's not their job to get short essay answers, and it's not the athlete's job to give them either.
