Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Back with another eBay gear grinder. Pretty sure I was the victim of an attempted scam again.

I sold an item for around $50. The auction ended yesterday. I sent a payment reminder today and a few hours later I received a message from the buyer saying that for some reason it wouldn't let him pay for the item multiple times. He said it kept saying that I don't accept payments from outside the US. But his shipping address is in the US and his profile says based in the US. I also have international shipping turned off, so people outside the US shouldn't even be able to bid on my items.

So in this message he told me that he has cancer and really wants to get the item before he has to go to the hospital for treatment again. PLEASE don't think I don't sympathize if that is the case, I certainly do. But I find it a little off. Why did he need to tell me that? AND then, he sent me a pic of him in a hospital gown. And said you can see that I am really sick and not just making it up. And asked if I could please ship the item tomorrow.

So I wrote him back and told him that I can't ship anything until he pays. And he needed to figure it out somehow or cancel the transaction on his end. I told him he can send me payment direct to my paypal but eBay does not allow email addresses in their messages. So I suggested that we exchange phone numbers and I could text him my paypal address. Well I never heard back from him. It's been hours now. I guess he could still write back and try to figure it out, but this smells like a scam from a mile away.

So once again I get shafted on eBay it looks like. So now I can either request a cancellation which will take 7 days if he doesn't agree to it. Or I can open an unpaid item case which I believe takes 4-5 days. So either way I won't see money from this for at least a week maybe two. And I really could have used this money right now. It's the whole damn reason I sold the item.

I think I have to seriously think about not using eBay anymore.

Even worse, fans. Crowd shots in general I find annoying if those people in the crowd aren't doing anything either. If it's something funny/noteworthy happening then show it during breaks in action or something, but sometimes you'd just randomly see the camera with a super close up shot of some fan eating. Or zoomed in shot of some kid who's camera shy and is just blankly staring at the camera, frozen, for like 10 seconds.

Hit and runs. I was involved in one today and it's just ****ing annoying. The cop was telling me he pulls at least one person a day over who doesn't have insurance.

                For some items, Amazon.

I am trying to find a pair of basketball socks. The rang on a pair is $1.95 - $60. There are some many colors of a certain pair it's impossible for them to accurately track. Once you find your size the price can vary $2-$3 based on the color. The one downfall of anyone being able to sell on Amazon essentially.

Speaking of Amazon (and I suppose this is more of UPS' wheelhouse, but whatever):

When they start shipping stuff via USPS because of the increased demand of Holiday shopping. 99% of the time Amazon is a great experience, but for the last couple weeks whenever something gets handed off to my local USPS the package gets delayed by at least a day.

Maybe I'm being nit-picky and petty, but guaranteed 2 day delivery hasn't been going so great for the Holidays.

Bro we have people steal cars, drive them like maniacs, and then crash. Then they run from the vehicle.

Literally happens every day. Just last week two stolen cars were racing and one lost control and hit two cars. They all ran. It's ridiculous.

Gear grinder: people who start their cars to warm and go inside or leave them running at the gas station. We don't live in a world where you can trust people. It's also a violation to leave keys in a running car while unattended.

Networks with limited/the same commercials that run every break. Left the Simpsons marathon on as background noise late night, only two commercials they kept showing were for A Place for Mom and Health Care.
