      Actors;

      You pretend for a living.

      That doesn't make you an "influencer"

        Odd that people who have some axe to grind against actors create ways to give them way, way, way more thought and attention than any normal person does.

          True, in general all it does is bring more attention to the thing that the person claims is irrelevent or worthless.

          But I am noticing a lot of people reacting to reactions with "why do you care, you are the one making a big deal out of it," arguments. Which as a strategy is kind of dumb. If someone/something makes a statement (literal or symbolic) they are putting themselves out there and creating discussion. If it receives some negative responses, however ignorant they may be, saying "wow, why do you care so much, that's weird" is merely an attempt at weak deflection.

          See that more and more on social media. Especially from people who themselves deal in the currency of outrage on the regular. Basically two sides shouting into the strawman void.

            You're right.. I should have aimed that at the mindless lemmings who allow these people to shape their lives and beliefs.

              Not trying to deflect. I’m really saying who ****ing cares about what any actor’s opinion is? I’ve literally never met a person in real life who did. This is just not a thing that normal people register in their lives.

                  Affirmations, while sounding corny premise wise, have really helped me within the past six months or so. Also being able to recognize those thoughts that you know you will drone and focus on and stopping them before reaching that point is very important.

                    Wish I could agree with the overall statement, because it really shouldn't matter what someone else says. I have known seemingly normal, successful, people who have let their favorite entertainer influence them in various ways though. Just look at all of the commercials and various advertisements with Patrick Mahomes or Peyton Manning. Billion dollar companies must think that a celebrity endorsement is worth something, and so it shouldn't be surprising that a well known person coming out and stating something on their own without a commercial backer would also hold sway.

                      Hey, if you know people who have been influenced by it, that's fair. As you said, the companies wouldn't spend the time or money if they didn't think or know that celebrities would have an effect - I just can't think of anyone I've actually known who has cited an endorsement for liking a product.

                      I'm also not against criticizing anyone's opinion (especially if they're putting out there publicly) but there's a difference between legitimately having an issue or difference of opinion and doing the phony performance of being offended because you're supposed to, which is a lot of what happens these days; particularly toward actors and athletes for whatever reason.

                      I'll leave it there though. No point in taking away from the typical everyday gear grinding the thread is meant for.

                              Fruity Pebbles.

                              I know my OCD will be triggered by not being able to get every single pebble in my cereal bowl or that there will be a glob of them at the bottom of the bowl...yet I still buy them.

                                chalk this one up in the pleasures of life column for me: I love that glob of fruity pebbles at the end. as long as I still have milk with it. I drink that glob down with milk like I was ten years old again.

                                my cereal gear grinder is how similar Cap'n Crunch tastes like Funyuns. obviously they aren't exactly the same but my taste buds are so out of whack, they are eerily similar imo
