Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Ah, perfect "grinds my gears" segway: the sound of chewing!
I'm not one of those people that likes to self-diagnose various dramatic ailments, but I'm pretty sure I have this:
Misophonia, meaning "hatred of sound", is a proposed neurological condition in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses others may deem unreasonable. Reactions to trigger sounds range from anger and annoyance to activating a fight-or-flight response. The condition is sometimes called selective sound sensitivity syndrome. Common triggers include oral sounds (e.g., loud breathing, chewing, swallowing), clicking sounds (e.g., keyboard tapping, finger tapping, windshield wipers), and sounds associated with movement (e.g., fidgeting). Oftentimes, hated sounds are repetitive in nature.

More of a minor pet peeve than a real gear grinder: Athletes who have "Jr." or "III" etc. on their jerseys. That's not part of your last name, it's only necessary when giving your full name.Comment

I made 100% of my car payments on time, and sent the final check in. Due to COVID and the mail taking so long, they marked my final payment as late.

Yeah, that sucks, but that's why I pay all my bills online.
Have you tried calling them? I'm almost positive they will reverse that based on the circumstance and payment history.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
By mail. There was always some issue of my bank not showing up when my wife or I tried signing up for automatic payments. We would go through the process and it would say "No available accounts."
Apparently, they added $1.28 after my check cleared their one time automatic courtesy thing.
I called them and they are not budging. I had my buddy who lives in town (it is two+ hours away from me now) go pay the $1.28 for me. They said that it was my banks fault and that the $1.28 is interest due to them not getting the payment from my bank the same day. They also ignored me when I asked about them removing it from my credit, but I could feel myself getting heated, so I had to just let it go for now.
It is just sad seeing this:Screenshot_20210311-232455_Samsung%20Internet.jpeg

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
That's crazy, but honestly I'm not surprised considering the mindset these larger corporations and financial institutions have regarding customers.
I've never trusted automatic payments and honestly don't really trust scheduled payments either. So when I manually schedule a payment I save everything and print out payment confirmation to a pdf just in case I'll need it later.
