I've never gotten the point of complaining about generational differences.

I always figured the point was to complain within your group, to gain "togetherness" with your peers

Yeah, always seemed like a social bonding thing. Happens to every group - everyone older is out of touch, everyone younger doesn't know how good they have it, etc.

There are always gonna be people who think the world peaked when they were in high school, and it's been downhill ever since.

Sunday afternoon, the wife and I watched Pretty in Pink, again. What struck me is that kids were not much different in the 80s as portrayed in that movie, than today...same conflicts, same identity issues...

I identify more with 80's movies tbh, there seems to be a homely feel to a lot of the stuff like Uncle Buck and others with me.

I graduated in 2004 when every guy looked like Guy Fieri and people were listening to either NSYNC or Limp Bizkit, so...there better not be anyone from my group who think this, lol.

I'm a Millennial but I don't really identify as one, so I laugh at Millennial jokes. I also have a good relationship with my Boomer parents, so I feel like Boomers get a bad rap.

Now these Gen Z kids, I do worry about them. The general "theme" of their generation seems to be that they're offended by everything and can't handle anything. Hopefully there are many that aren't like this because...well, life is hard sometimes. We are so far removed from when the Greatest Generation were sleeping in the same bed with their 4 siblings as kids, then going off and fighting in WWII and Korea and never complaining about anything.

What I see as a teacher is underdeveloped communication skills due to just having to send a text. It's mind boggling to think the guys will never know the fear of calling a girl and her dad picking up the phone.

Yeah I've noticed that too. Some people nowadays think you're "writing a book" if you write more than a few sentences.

Bringing back memories there lol...I remember cold calling a girl I liked in the summer because she signed my yearbook. I remember pacing around my room planning the call out all day before finally dialing.

I don't actually remember what I said, but it was probably something like "Hey ________, what's up? Oh yeah, this is __________, hey yeah I thought maybe you know, like, I'd just call and see what's up and stuff and, like, yeah."

That's true for so many things. Its why I hate phone calls too. You spend X amount of minutes or hours planning out the conversation, just to not use anything you planned in the conversation, and it lasts all of 30 seconds.

Even worse when someone leaves you a message to call back.
