I'd think most people would expect to make it to their 70s at least. At least full retirement age. 60s is pretty young. Statistically if you make it to age 60 your life expencency is in the 80s. Unless you're obese, a death at that age seems out of nowhere to me.

I think midlife is a good way to describe that age range. The idea that we would spend 35-40% of our lives being old seems tough lol.

Definitely consider it more midlife than young.

But I’ve also hated the whole “30s are the new 20s, 40s are the new 30s, 50s are the new 40”. Like if you’re 45-50 and still dressing/acting like you’re 20-25, that’s cool and I have no problem with that. But you’re still going to be an old head, lol

Well, since I'm kind of dumb I just don't know things that cause death when it is "old age." I start to think mid-70s as that time when it's considered, really. But again, I just have no idea.

Being 33 right now, to think I only maybe have another half of this lifetime is scary and sad, and hopefully pessimistic. I hope it's only a third of it, ya know?

EDIT: Aaaand I just learned that Demaryius Thomas passed away at 33. Yeah, we're all too old. Shoot.

If this is about those types of people who are in their 40s/50s riding around on lowrider bikes dressed like they are a 12 year old from 2002, then I am onboard with the hate.

I definitely see where he’s coming from. For me it’s more about life experience I guess, like if you die before you retire and you’ve just spent your whole life working that’s sad to me. But my girlfriend was telling me the other day she’d cry when James Earl Jones dies. That man has lived a long, fulfilling life. It’s not even like he’s around anymore where it’d be super noticeable. I’m like wut.

James Earl Jones also isn’t 50. If he had died at 50, you wouldn’t have even seen him in Return of the Jedi. How’s that for context?

I get your point, though. I say if you don’t get to see your grandchildren acknowledge you (assuming there is lineage), you’re too young to go naturally.

When a place accepts "cash only" even when there's no sign... but they have an ATM in "the back" that charges a fee

There is a local pizza eatery that is cash only, and I asked the owner once why, and she said it's because she doesn't want to pay the credit fees.

I get it...but one, think of the increase in business you will get from people like me who hardly carry cash. And two, I would think your prices are high enough as it is to cover the fees lol.

                  It is good pizza though.

I’m with you, the reason you see it more with small businesses is because the rate they get is also based on credit, so for some with lower credit, the merchant services rates can be astronomical.

If they openly admit why, then why not just give discounts for using cash? 10% off for using cash or something.

I have a local pizza place/Italian restaurant that does that I go to now and then. Not sure how much they're paying, but they'll try to stick you with a 2$ credit or debit charge.

Lol, it really is true though

When Brandon McCarthy asked Twitter users whether they agree that people in the past aged faster, he didn't know he was opening Pandora's box. But what's done is done. Everyone immediately started posting pictures that support this theory, and they haven't stopped yet.

When I was younger, older guys didn't seem like they even cared to look "young and hip" and even openly scorned how young people looked and acted.

I guess a gear-grinder for me is how young people today have flipped the script and scorn how older people dress or act, which is my generation. I feel we gen xers have gotten the shaft on both ends...but that's just my observation and perception. For me though, I couldn't care less what a person thinks about how I dress or act. I love my cargo shorts, I love wearing baseball caps, I love wearing hoodies...
