Shoot, I have had back problems worsen for me lately, and sometimes I can't even get the chiropractor to fix it. Dealing with that right now. About to go to bed, and am ruing the thought of trying to get up tomorrow morning with it.

        Good luck yourself, SM!

The way I sleep sometimes on my older mattress I get dull pains in my back where I put most of my weight, it sucks.

I’ll get that every once in a while in my hip if I wind up sleeping on my side, but I move around so much in my sleep that it doesn’t happen too often.

Waking up randomly with one (or both) arms asleep/numb because you slept at the wrong angle and cut off the circulation. I wonder how long you can cut off the blood flow before it does actual damage. And would you just sleep through that point?

The wait and see approach at the hospital.

I had a planned surgery on Tuesday which resulted in an unexpected lung complications. Closing in on a week since then and Every day has just been a take it day by day approach waiting for the body to heal on its own rather than do a procedure that would reinflate my lung more immediately. My lung has not healed as rapidly as they initially expected.

I know there are a million reasons why doctors do the things they do, but knowing I could have been out of here 3 or 4 days ago if they would have just called in the surgeon to fix the damn thing rather than just make me wait in bed with literally no treatment being done is the most frustrating feeling.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Agreed. If we are going to wait and see what happens, I can take the same approach from home, comfortable and without being overbilled for medical observations that probably aren’t necessary.

I have lost faith in our health system, which disappointingly coincides with my loss of faith in our justice system, which I now refer to as the American LEGAL system because of how far it has fallen while forgetting the true meaning of justice.

When enforcing the law, I swore an oath to forbid any immoral, illegal, or unethical act to take place in my physical presence when/if there was something I could do to prevent it from happening or to handle the situation properly, morally, legally and ethically after the act had occurred. I don’t think that many cops these days take that oath as seriously as I did. I may have had fewer friends during my career [than I could have], but I knew that my conscience was clear and clean. That approach also led to several disputes in my past, a failed marriage because of her family members and the way they recklessly lived their lives.

I regret nothing. If I could go back and change anything, I would look at things with more detail but still make the same choices that I made. Lost blood cells restore themselves over time, teeth can be replaced, and scars heal, but nothing can replace the conviction of whether or not we had the opportunity to be a good person in a violent situation and took it or stepped aside in cowardice. I simply chose to accept what scars may come. Today, I am the result of what an upside-down justice system can do to someone. It is what it is.

                        How long should nailclippers last?
I feel like I'm buying them every ******* year. You would think you would buy some, they last ten ,twenty years, no problemo. Buy them , and forget about it, you're set.
                        Can they be sharpened?

Edit- after a little searching, it seems the cheap drugstore variety I always buy can apparently go dull after just a few uses. But I didn't even know there were such thing as high end clippers and certainly don't know where to go (outside of Internet shopping) to acquire some.

Between this post and the one in Off-Topic I’m just going to assume you sliced your ankle open with an abnormally long toenail. That’s the official story now.

I get a couple years out of clippers, maybe? I guess I’ve never really paid attention to it but I don’t feel like I’m buying them at a crazy pace or anything. I know my dad has a higher-end set he found on Amazon (or just higher-end compared to drug store brand) - they work well but almost too well. Sharp with a very smooth cut but I’ve caught some skin there too when I didn’t feel it. I’ll stick with the drug store brand. Sharp enough to cut your nails but not enough to do any other real damage.

Obviously, the joke within was that I don't use them haha. I peel them off with my fingernails (including other fingernails).
