Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
It all depends on how much you trust yourself when braking. Through defensive driving training, I learned that you can hit most speed bumps full-on and allow the vehicle's chassis and suspension to do what they are designed to.
It's all about the timing and the angle of approach. Similarly, learning more about the apex curvature of our road designs would benefit many who don't think to learn more.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
One thing I will add. I didn't mean it is a good idea to hit speed bumps like that on a regular basis, rather if the matter is urgent or there is an emergency. Also, it is crucial to consider the ground clearance of the vehicle, or the space between the undercarriage and the ground. Many sedans ride lower than most vehicles I have driven and drive now.
The best ride I have ever experienced, perhaps for the value of nostalgia as well, is that of a Ford Crown Victoria. When properly maintained, they offer the smoothest ride at any speed you can push them to. Tahoes tend to have a floating feeling beyond 110mph. Chargers should never have been considered an option for line vehicles, ever. The chassis deteriorates quicker than any vehicle I have ever driven.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'm sure my own viewing habits determine which ads I get, so you guys might not get this one, but I am sick of this freakin' Fortnite nerd talking on my screen during YouTube ad breaks. I generally am not bothered by ads, but this one can go away fast. Hopefully it does. The only video game videos I've seen as of recent are from Planet Coaster 2 and PYS 2024-2025, so I don't know why that is putting this Fortnite crap on my screen.
The real gear-grinder though is that I'll often play some YouTube video on my phone while in the bathroom (showering, cutting my hair, etc.) and I can't really access my phone during the one time they decide to play a 10-minute ad. I swear my phone knows what I'm doing and decides to play them right at that moment.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I've dealt with/without them. This one ad in particular just screams total nerdom and I'm not here for it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I had the bad habit of leaving my monitor on with a Youtube sleep playlist up. Stuff like MST3K, RLM, video essays. So I just put my TV on with a sleep timer now. I'm so use to my browser that without it man there is so much input needed to keep continuously watching through the app.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Can anyone tell me a fighting movie (like boxing, MMA, etc.) where it isn't the case that between rounds, the coach/mentor talks actual strategy to the protagonist, but the antagonist only gets told things like "Finish him!" or "You should have knocked him out already!" ?
I haven't seen them all, but that's all I ever seem to witness. It's like the bad guy isn't allowed to be given good advice, the writer ran out of creative things to say, or the audience member isn't allowed to know what the opponent's strategy is for dramatic effect.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I'd nominate Fight Club but it depends on if you view the characters as bad guys or not
Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. *** **** it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed offWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Well, Duke told ApolloSpoilerbefore Round 15 "You got him beat on points, now just stick and move! This man is breaking you up inside! Stick and move! Don't go for the knockout!" in Rocky 2
All of it was on point and correctOSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
It just doesn't seem to be a norm. In one corner, it always sounds like a bunch of actual strategic talk; in the other corner, it's "Caveman see man hit man" gruff talking points.
I'd like to hear more exceptions if others have them.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I still have my cough by the way, but here are two more:
(1) Drivers who forget they have their blinker on. I'm led with the false belief that I should give them room to move over, only for them to not budge. Then others take over because they realize the idiocy of the driver.
(2) I was a single rider at an amusement park the other day, and it bothered me seeing how many single seats were empty on each train thinking I could've been on it. The park doesn't have any sort of single rider system, and if only they optimized things much better by filling up each train then lines would go faster as an overall.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
