its definetly murder. theres no way he gets off unless the jury is totally ignorant.

cops cant even just walk up to a robber and shoot em. i mean he has clear intent to KILL them.

whats next for him? does he witness his neighbors car getting vandalized and start shooting at the vandals? what if there just kids having some "fun". should they all die?
I can see why you or others may find it wrong but I think where people like me look at it differently is the fact that those who were slain were slain while committing a felony. You reap what you sow. If more incidents like this would happen perhaps the burglary rate would drop a bit, don't you think?

Exactly, and I've almost been robbed before with some teens trying to break into my car and take stuff. I got my tire iron nailed one in the kneecap the other fled as the cops were called they eventually caught the other one as well. If someone breaks into my house they are getting a shot in the kneecap, and the law will be called, but if they have a weapon its a direct shot to the forehead. Stealing from people is pathetic. As for the starving food argument. Please there are places like food kitchens and the like you can go to get food and go on your way or if you are that dirt poor go to a homeless shelter and get shelter and food till you get back on your feet. Churches all around America have food kitchens and the like that have places where you can go get food so you don't die of hunger and thirst.

ok maybe i should of said why are people saying stuff like rob a store or rob a bank if you wanna rob something instead. if they did rob a store or a bank would you have a little more sympathy for them or something?

Oh my Lord. I hope that man stays in celled for a long time. Personally people with big lawns not only make me laugh, but annoy the crap out of me. What the hell's the point of a freaking lawn? Wastes so much *** **** water it's disgusting.

Exactly. Can't imagine a Texas jury finding this guy guilty, even if it was his neighbors house and not his.

Anybody think about it this way...if they are successful in stealing who says they don't come back again. I had my car broken into along with several roommates while living in a pretty bad neighborhood in college. Our house was even broken into on a winter break. Heck, my trailer hitch was stolen.

However, it does seem like he went over the line. BUT, we don't know how close they were to his house and all the other details that could have/have not justified his killing.

I hope you guys are wrong.
Plain and simple...the man is guilty.....and what's worse is....it sounds like this guy knew ahead of time what he was going to do and had no intention of doing anything except pulling that trigger if given the chance.
I don't think you guys are really getting your head around what this guy has done.
I know I kidded about wanting to be this guys neighbor, but I assure you...it was just a joke. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this guy.
                    Protecting yourself is one thing.
Murdering someone is another thing entirely.
I didn't get to read the particulars of the case, but unless they were coming to attack this guy or he really feared for his life and safety this is a tough one to defend IMO.

Re: Man kills two while on the phone with cops

                      Let's play this scenario:

He let's the guys get away. A few days later the model citizens that these guys are realize the old man might ID them and put them in jail. So they decide to come back to the house and kill the old man and/or his family. Probably happen? No, but if I lost someone I loved because I didn't protect them when I had the chance, I could never live with myself. I have a very hard time believing any of you would feel any different.

Re: Man kills two while on the phone with cops

We don't know all of the entire specifics.

Like Rainey said, what if the neighbors are really close to this guy? Maybe he was put in charge to watch the house when the neighbors are on vacation?

Things like that are missing. On my thought though, it's a double-edged sword. Stealing is terribly low but killing is no better. Tough case to decide, even evident in this thread right here.

Re: Man kills two while on the phone with cops

                          Lets ask the question:

If you were in the same boat; you are home alone in the middle of the day when you see some burglars crawling out of a window of your neighbors house. In less than 2 minutes, they will be gone and the cops won't make it for 5 minutes. You have a gun in your hands, what do you do?

Me: I think I leave it be. I'm not going to shoot someone who isn't coming after me, and personally, I don't think anyone deserves to die over theft. If I fire a warning shot, who knows if these guys are armed and they may return fire on me. Chances are they are going to take material items in which most can be replaced with homeowners insurance (though some stuff won't be abe to).

As someone said, maybe this guy or both of them are in a depserate time and while stealing is never the answer, I've never been in a situation to know what I would do. I'm in no way condoling stealing, but don't think death is the fair punishment.

In some countries, stealing warrants the loss of an arm, and that's probably too far. Death...just too much.

However, if this guy is in my house and is armed, then all bets are off and he's taking some fire.

off-topic : hmm i remember when my house was robbed when i wasnt home, the neighbors said they saw the burglar...but they didnt even call the cops! what the fudge...the guy didnt steal too much though, he only stole stuff from one room and they werent that valuable

i think he only stayed in that room cuz he was scared of my dog i guess?

It's pretty simple... They decided to commit a crime and invade someones house so they decided their own fate.

Says a whole bunch of people who download free music and movies. So I guess if Justin Timberlake decides to walk in my house and blow my brains out, it would be justified.

C'mon, some of you sound ridiculous. Burglary is wrong, it's bad, and it's pretty pathetic. I think everybody would agree with that. That doesn't mean people should go out and be vigilantes......killing people over a few items and dollars. People would feel real different about this if this was a 30 year old male killing a bunch of 15 year old kids doing the same thing.
