Re: North Carolina weather forecasts stink

Tonight we're supposed to be getting rain/sleet/snow/ice. But for some reason, I'm not believing the weather forecasters because they were way off last week when they got all crazy about the same thing.

I think we'll be getting our first STORM WATCH '08 this week.

Oh, God! Don't make me vomit. My radio station does this cheesy "STOOOOORRM WATCH!!" every time there's any bit of frozen precipitation in the forecast. God I miss Wilmington.

We'll usually have one or two blizzards per year on Long Island. This year though, they have been 0-3 in predicting them. We've only gotten like 2 inches of snow all winter.

Weather guys so far are 2 out of 3 on being right with the winter forecast at least in my area. It's a improvement, but predicting what mother nature is going to actually do is like trying to win the lottery.

Yea, thats exactly what I was saying happened here twice. Only we unfortunately didn't close, because everyone knows how off they usually are so they waited for the proof, that sadly never came.

The only thing they ever get right here is when it's sunny or when it's supposed to rain. They predicted an inch of ice here in Nashville, but guess what: we only got rain.

NWS (national weather service) is alot more accurate then both WC and Accuweather.

Well, we got a little freezing rain this morning like they said. There was absolutely no reason for a winter weather advisory for a glaze of ice, though. The roads are just wet.

I know they don't have control over what happens. But how can every forecaster get it wrong? That's my point. SOMEBODY ought to be able to tell what's going to happen. Nobody does.

A glaze of ice is enough to cause major problems on the roads. I know this from first hand experience.

Well... They've been predicting snow in Eugene for about a week, and we've been having crystal clear, beautiful days. But today it finally hit. I've never lived in snow before and only ever seen it in Tahoe, but it seems like a lot to me. Its up to about my ankles when I walk around, which is pretty good considering it started early this morning. Pretty cool for me!

Spokane here got about 10 inches yesterday and we are supposed to get about 5 to 6 more within the next 4 days. The temperature is in the low teens and with wind chill it is almost below zero. I know is not that big of a deal compared to upper New York or Minnesota, but it has caused a school snow day today.
