Tax law is extremely complex. Depending on your situation a good tax preparer can save you money and is well worth the cost. I agree if you are single you can easily do it yourself.

Either you have lower income or sporadic income or incredibly high income, or you may be doing something wrong, if you got bumped up a tax bracket, pack away 401k and flex plans to negate the income that pushed you over the top..

Are numerous people still waiting for their W-2? I havent gotten mine and my other half hasnt gotten her's yet either. Am I just being impatient or arent they normally here in January? Im sure Im jumping the gun but it just seems like they are taking forever this year.

That doesn't even seem possible... I knew you sucked.... but this is a different level. What do you write off? I know you have a home. I know you both work, so you probably have childcare to write off. Do you donate to anything charitable? Thousands of dollars and you're claiming ZERO seems damn difficult to do. But, if anyone can pull it off.... I'm sure it's you.

Most employers are required to mail them by the January 31st. There are a few industries that have an extension through Feb... but, most folks will have them by the end of the week or first part of next.

So quick question with the new check thing people are going to get. I am a student who works so I do taxes(or my parents do them for me) so I get all of my stuff back since I dont claim myself or whatever it is called, hope you guys are following me. Anyway do I get the check from the govt on top of what I already get back. I made more than 3,500 last year if that helps.

if your parents claim you, I would guess that they will get your money. Really nobody is going to be able to answer that question for sure.

That doesn't seem possible. If that is the case and you are doing things right, your employees are not withholding enough money. I would speak to them about that. Personally, I wouldn't complain. I wish my employee wouldn't take so much out.

Here's what I hate about taxes. I make 4 times what someone else makes and they get over twice as much back. I pay in 4 times what they do as well. They get everything back and I get nearly nothing. This country needs a flat tax badly.

Thanks for the heads up, I figured I was probably jumping the gun but with me moving soon to Nashville, I wanted to make sure I knew exactly when these things were supposed to get mailed.

I took it to mean he doesnt claim himself, meaning he claims Single-0 instead of Single-1, not that his parents claim him on their taxes. Im not sure what his question is though.

Are you asking if you are going to get whatever your refund is supposed to be plus the possibility of 600 from the bill that was passed? Thats the best I could make of your question.

I was told by someone that it is above and beyond your normal refund, not a replacement of it, so you will still get your normal refund and then I heard sometime in June this refund will start to roll out to people.

EDIT- On a side note, does anyone have a link to the exact way this refund is being figured? Ive tried locating it online and for some reason I keep getting nothing but info about a tax bill back in 2003. Thanks to anyone that can help with this.

you should get somewhere between 300 to 600. You won't get it until, at least, June.
