    I say we sometimes.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

Depends how it's used. I generally use it when addressing the organization, but not the team itself.

Thus, "we" would need a new quarterback, but "we" did not win or lose the game.

I'm a Browns season ticket holder, therefore, I own a stake in the team, so I say "we" all the time.

A Browns season holder which sells his tickets in the beginning of the season.

          I use "we" as well.

I use "we" every so often. Not all the time, but it comes out every now and then. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I get more upset when I say "we" and someone gets pissed at me like Johnny.

                You cats and your justificications...

                1) If YOU didn't show up to the games, the owner would sell the team to another sucker and move to another state (or stay home like the new Wild owner). Rinse...repeat...until you have another Oakland-Los Angeles-Oakland Raiders.

                2) I guess you have a general stake regardless in any city (including Cleveland, I presume) that have taxpayer's finance the stadium (i.e. Denver with Coors Field and Invesco Field, etc). Still, I'm a Denver fan and NEVER use WE.

                3) What's the difference between using it for the organization versus the team? It's the Denver Broncos regardless! So you say WE need to sign a QB, when that signing will directly impact both the organization AND the team, but you won't say it in this situation, "we really need Cassel to throw to Moss more in the second half", which is a team specific instance? That doesn't make any ******* sense!

                4) All you guys are crazy and obviously failed sixth grade English when you use the incorrect pronoun to describe a third party entity.

Destroyed him. Don't know why he got that roughing penalty tacked on, though.

It's even more annoying when people try to act like saying "we," when referring to a team they may care more about than some (or most) of the players on the team and the onwership, is such a terrible thing.

Both of those would be "we" situations.

More specifically, "we" situations would be armchair situations. "We" need to sign a QB. "We" need Cassel to throw to Moss more.

However, any real action would be the player, coach, or management's doing.

Thus, "we" need to win this Sunday, but if they win, the team won (not us/we). I make exception during the game and if I'm watching it with people, the few hours before and after the game, but that's case by case. If I'm in Maryland and it's a few hours after the game, Auburn is "they". If it's after a Redskins game, it's "we".

How do you feel about offensive players saying "we" scored 45 points? If said player didn't score, should he get to say "we" with regards to any point scoring? What about a special teamer or backup? Do they get to say "we" won?

What do you say during the game?

"I'd really prefer if the Denver Broncos would convert this upcoming third down."

I get irritated when a person tries to take credit for his or her team's success, but you're going a bit overboard.

Teammates are directly responsible, offense or defense. You know that defensive players go home and ***** to their wives or girlfriends when the "O" can't score 20 points, and the offensive players ***** to their wives when the "D" can't prevent more than 20 points. They all have a say and they ALL wear the jersey of a team and participate in the action on the field, court, or ice.

You at home, however, do not wear the jersey and participate in the game. I at home never say "we really need to convert". I say "they really need to convert". With friends, with family, by myself on the couch and my wife and son outside.

Oh well, it's now a blog post...and I really can't argue semantics on a site where nearly everyone uses the "we". It's just a pet peeve, like folks biting their nails or ripping *** in a public place and acting oblivious.
