$3.45Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: So.....Whats your gas at??
The whole thing is because of OPEC. Its has nothing to do with the gas stations and only little to do with the companies that turn the oil into gas. OPEC keeps the supply low so the market isn't flooded. China needs more oil, so they have been driving the price up because the supply hasn't changed. Also OPEC has been trying to build the USA price up to get it to the price with Europe which is $5+. There is plenty of oil, the USA in fact has enough to drive the price back down to sub $1 prices. No one will let us drill though. So I remember hearing not too long ago that the gas companies were asked about the high gas prices and that they have to charge so much because what goes into "making" it. So my question is how has the process become more expensive if anything it would become cheaper to do that type of stuff correct?Comment

Re: So.....Whats your gas at??
do yall want our country to be as environmentally responsible as possible, or do you want low gas prices?....we cant have it both ways right now
btw, if people want to "lessen the dependence on foreign oil"...then domestic companies cant be run into the ground with unnecessary non-environmental strict enforcements just for the purpose of messing with said companies (especially in a political season to show people that you are "being tough" on oil companies).
Being tough on domestic oil companies actually RAISES the prices further. Truth be told, the government is making as much money as anyone is. They could lower the price if they were willing to take less of the pie for themselves (ie taxes).
Anyway, domestic oil/gas companies need to be healthy if we are going to lessen our dependence on foreign oil (at least moreso than it is currently)...and it's good that environmental concerns are becoming a priority (for example, no new refineries are going to be built). Some day, there will be an alternate source (which will probably be more expensive at first than gas is now in the US)...for now, the price is certainly higher than it has ever been in the past in this country, but it is still not as high as it is in Europe and other places.Last edited by ZB9; 04-15-2008, 03:01 AM.Comment

Re: So.....Whats your gas at??
Not sure if bringing goverment talk into this thread was the wisest choice, hopefully it doesnt lead to getting locked. I have a lot of views on this entire gas "shortage" but unfortunatly it would definently get this thread locked. It certainly would be nice to see the prices come down but I get the feeling that they are only going to continue to rise as we get closer to Summer. I dont know how anyone in California or Hawaii can live with the prices there, its killing me here in Oregon.do yall want our country to be as environmentally responsible as possible, or do you want low gas prices?....we cant have it both ways right now

dont mean to bring political talk into the thread.
just giving a few examples of what is keeping the price high
world demand is going to do nothing but increase....and oil is not a renewable resource.I have a lot of views on this entire gas "shortage" but unfortunatly it would definently get this thread locked. Re: So.....Whats your gas at??
$3.32 was the average I've seen around here driving to work. I usually go to BJs, since the gas there is always a few cents cheaper than the average local price. One of the few things I miss about living in NY; I had a car, but never really had to drive much, so gas prices weren't something I worried about. I took the train to and from work, and the most driving I did was on the weekends, running local errands (shopping, etc.). I could fill up my tank and not have to worry about gas for almost 3 weeks.Comment
