I dont think people will donate the day they register, and if they do good for the site.

I say that we get a rep system and have different users vote on how "quality" a user is and if they score high enough they get access.
    NONONONONONONONONONO

"kudos", "rep", "karma" and any form of this is a sure sign that a forum sucks. I seriously cannot think of a good forum that uses this or anything close.

OS tried a karma/rep system briefly. Let's just say it led to a lot of complaints, hurt feelings and people giving other people negative points just because they have beef with each other.

Oh. Nevermind that then. I guess that's what you get for joining in 2007. Well anyways I think we should come up with something other than donating because I have decent sized list of quality posters who haven't donated.

even though its not much money at all, just by the act of donating users show at least a little commitment to the site and they arent going to try to mess it up with stupid threads. Im not sure how much it helps out but imo its more a token of appreciation than anything.

true but I don't think that it would improve the site to cut off certain peoples ability to post to the devs and stuff just by whether or not they donated. I think that if they were going to have a certain people can only do certain things they should go by post count and contributions (rosters, sliders, helping other people). or something to that effect.

It should probably be a mixture of all of the factors: quality of posts, donation status, post count, contributions to the forums.

Yeah. But I think that if donation was a factor you should get points up from donating but no points lost for not donating. Or maybe have a test that has posts in different situations. Not sure what would be on there but you would take the test and say it has a flame post. How you answer to the flame post will be worth x amount of points and so on. And you would have to hit a certain point level to get access to the site.

                  thats getting way too complicated

donated/not donated is easy, efficient, and very reliable in almost all cases

That's odd... I think donation status should give you a decent increase, but not donating gives you a lesser decline. It's nothing on you and the other non-donators that aren't trolls or flamers, but it helps weed out the other people. If you're a non-donator, you should have to be nearly perfect to get to post in a developer thread. If you're a donator, you shouldn't have to be as perfect, but you should have a good post quality.

No, we need Calculus here. Calculus is always the answer.

What happens to the people that are in the almost part? That's where the problem comes with that. There are people in the almost part and I'm not talking about myself because I'll leave other people to judge that that are just as quality if not MORE quality than some of the donaters. I just thank that it wouldn't be right to deny non-donaters dev interaction just because they haven't donated. You need a better reason than that IMO. Lets just agree to disagree on that though.

Actually since dev threads have been around this year I think they should do nothing until the next dev cycle goes around and just lock out the people that have a history of flaming and stuff in the ncaa/madden/2k or whatever forums when that time comes around. And if a new one comes up just add them to the list.

Lately the site has just been on the fritz with nonsense new members posting nonsense posts and making dumb down threads, especially in the Madden forum. I never saw OS like in all the years I have been a member. Not sure what else to say, t OS may need some more mods or just try and keep these spammers and these low post members just clogging up the forums , I know it would be hard but, can something be done?

Sorry for venting, things just seem to be getting out of hand here lately.
This might be the first time I agree completely with an FF post!

If there's any wonder why many of the old school OS posters rarely post anymore, look no further than this. It's a shame and there's not a really good solution to the problem.

I like the idea of a donators only forum, but maybe included with a referral system...something along the lines of a donator being able to suggest a non-donator who they feel is worthy of posting in the forum to a mod or admin, then said mod or admin reviews it and they are granted/denied access.

If I were one of the devs posting on this forum, I would've bailed a long time ago. 90% of the posts and threads they have to deal with are the aforementioned noobs "tarding it up" (copyright dkgojackets).
