Anytime more than one weather reporter says the hurricane has the potential to reach Boston (as a Tropical Storm) if it continues turning, I feel bad for the people in Florida and the southeast coast.

They said that? I was looking up Hurricanes that have hit here. We got on in '92 and I remember it. Not much action up here though. The track does look like it could bring us some nasty weather.

They usually weaken like crazy on the way here. The cold water really weakens the system.

That's why I put the whole note about them being a tropical storm when we get them.

But yeah, they said Hannah has potential to drop some rain on us and then Ike could next week, as well if it keeps turning.

But yeah, they would be weak tropical storms if they ever made it up here.

While not haha funny, I do think it's mildly amusing that weather reporters don't seem to realize that a major part of Katrina's damage was from years of over sensationalizing weather reports which led to people not realizing the need to leave. By hyping every new storm as the next Katrina, they're only doing the same thing.

Exactly, they need to be more accurate. It is the weather though, so you really never know.

I'm in Charleston, SC...probably in the direct path of Hannah and it looks like we'll get some fairly strong winds and rain so I plan to tough it out. Now, Ike might drive me to pack up and go.

I have a feeling this one will die down to a Cat 1 or 2 before hitting landfall. Any storm that hits Cat 4 that far out is bound to lose some steam.
