Man, I'm stunned that he lived. I thought this may be the one for sure.

Next time, Geraldo, you crazy, facial-haired fool.

We came through more or less ok, just some minor damage to the roof and lots of damaged trees.

Most of the Houston area (including my house) is still without power this morning. The worst thing is the lack of a/c, it's absolutely miserable . My sister out in Pearland had power restored last night. If we don't get it back today I'll head out there tonight.

My parents are up at Villanova for parent's weekend so they got out right before the hurricane hit. Apparently our house is intact, just there's no power. So I'm glad we didn't get hit too badly.

my house's power is out too. Some trees fell, and my shack in the back is pretty messed up.

Currently I'm staying at my aunt's for awhile and she has electricity and water and everything.

                Hopefully my school is canceled

I dunno how you people handle it. Up here, we're starting to get parts of whats left of Ike, and its hitting a cold front, so the wind gusts have been insane compared to normal. Our sliding doors at work got blown inwards, and cars were getting pelted with branches on the way back and one road was closed. Not to mention a few areas are without power. And this is just the leading edge of whats left, so I can't even wrap my mind around how bad it was when it was at full strength

This wind is crazy, there are trees all over the place and power is out all over the city.

i know im late to the party but i just have to comment on Geraldo

i was watchin him that entire night and he stayed out through the EYE WALL (the strongest part of the storm) clutching onto his trusty palm tree

now, when they tell people to leave the area and if you stay you are facing certain death, then people turn there TV's on and see this dunce standing out there in the middle of the EYE WALL it kind of makes that point a little less meaningful

in fact, Geraldo may have proven that being outside next to a palm tree may be the SAFEST place during a hurricane as there are no windows or collapsing roofs and it didnt seem like he was dodging that much debris

I can only imagine what it's like to go through a real hurricane.

That's why I live in Ohio, to get away from that kind of crap.

                          I don't either.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll take the 5 tornadoes we had Friday night, plus all the other tornadoes we've had, over going through a hurricane once.

I'm in Dayton, OH area and we got smacked with Ike's remnants. We had about 2/3 of the city without power at some point. My 60 foot tree is now one sided as the other main branch broke off in big pieces as the wind continued to blow at near hurricane gusts for 4 1/2 hours. Finally got power back at 12:30AM after it having gone out at 3:00. This strom was just simply incredible in the damage it caused over such a widespread area. Just "wow...." Brian

Well, tornadoes scare the crap out of me too, especially cause I'm 22 and I've only ever seen one in the distance

Yesterday was a pretty boring day, no power from 4-11:30 in cincinnati where I live. I really never knew huge winds like this could split a tree in half until it happened yesterday, it split right down the middle, but is still standing because it only split about 3/5th's of the way. I'm just glad to have the power back but now we'll have to start cleaning up the mess it left.
