That guy has to be making some serious money...no way he wouldn't have quit if he wasn't.

I've been reading about this storm, and the whole thing seems...just odd. Josephine completely disappeared, and Ike regained all of its strength and then some (what seemed to be) instantly, then add to that the fact that it completely changed directions. It has bad news written all over it.

If it does in fact reach NOLA as a Cat 3 or 4 (which I hope it doesn't), you can't help but wonder what would happen with the city.

Now they have it heading towards the oil rigs.

Prepare for $5 a gallon gas if it hits there as a category three or four storm...

The thing is most of the rigs out there are natrual gas rigs not oil as many would have you belive. I've worked on crew boats out there. I wish there was more out there the fishing around them is great.

I'll be in Mexico tomorrow so I'm a bit concerned with Ike as well. If it takes a little turn south, my wife and I are in trouble. It's one thing to be in your own backyard when a Hurricane hits and it's another being in a foreign country.

the footage in texas is crazy already, considering that the strongest part of the storm is still like 200 miles out.

Looking at the pics and video on CNN, its not even 100 miles in yet and its looking like some major damage is coming.

I feel for anyone who has to uproot their lives like this at the drop of a hat, and deal with the aftermath not being able to do anything about it.

This is a monster storm. They just said on Weather Channel that it has an eye 60nm across. That's just huge. They are saying that'll probably have the better part of a 20 foot storm surge. The wind field for Hurricane force winds will be bigger than Katrina. They've said that Houston will get the worst wind damage since 1983. Poor Galveston. And some guy decided to ride it out..... Pray.

Seriously, they are doing the weather in studio and I see this tiny window of him getting beat to hell by Ike.

I have no idea how he is still alive.

and there's some joker standing there beside him with the wind speed gauge...

it would be funny (sort of) if a flying stick suddenly pierced him in the gonads...
