Re: Getting to know you.....
I guess it's my turn.
My name is Kristofer. I live in Northeast Texas. I have lived in Texas my whole life. I have moved around in the state since I graduated HS in 1997. I'm an Optometrist (hence the reason for my forum avatar picture), and have been practicing in Texas for 2 years.
I'm have been married for a little over 3 years and have a 5 month old son. He is such a blessing to my life. Oh, and I'm a die-hard Christian, and have been since I was 8 years old.
This is my son and me.
Here is a picture of my family.
An Optometrist. I was wondering why your avatar was of an eye chart.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Getting to know you.....
Good looking family Kirstofer. Ahh.. Texas, I love that state. My uncle lives in Conroe and I used to visit him during summer vacations back in my latter middle school years and early high school. He's the reason I got into rodeos and bull riding.

I guess it's ok that you're a Cards fan. I'm a huge Astros fan. I don't hate the Cards, but man I was getting close during those few years were we played each other in the NLCS. Besides I like Albert Pujols. How can you hate a team that has a guy like him on there.Comment

Re: Getting to know you.....
Well it should be OK. She decided to take that Alpha Protein test and it came back positive. So now they want her to go to a high-risk place that does advanced ultrasounds and genetic counseling. But I found out the test comes back false-positive something like 97% of the time. But on our first ultrasound (the picture) the baby looks fine and was moving all over the place. They're just in overkill mode. Last time with Joel he showed what's called an ecogenic foci in his heart. It's a possible indicator of Down's. They went through a bunch of stuff and he turned out fine. Sometimes I wonder what we'd do without all of the advanced medicine. But better safe than sorry, I guess. Way I look at it, if worst case we are chosen to have a special needs child, I'm honored..... Brian

I understand what you're saying about the medical advances. You wonder sometimes if knowing more just causes more stress. But like you said, if it gives the wife a sense of peace, then it's worth it. Because indirectly it gives us peace and less stress.Comment

Re: Getting to know you.....
I'm your typical guy:
My name is Ryan, from a really small town in Central Washington (I graduated with 18 other people). After high school, I played baseball for a year at a JUCO and along with not getting along with the coach who favored Mormon teammates, I was injured when a player slid into my ankle at first base.
I'm 23 years old and recently graduated Washington State University with degrees in both Marketing and Sport Management. I just finished an internship with the Single-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Yakima Bears and got promoted to Director of Ticket Operations position, which I start on Wednesday. It's kinda weird, I'm starting a "career" on Wednesday. I currently live with my GF of 3 years and it's going better than I ever would have imagined.
Anyway, besides working in sports which has been my dream as long as I can remember, I'm a diehard WSU Cougars fan along with liking the Seahawks, Mariners, and Sonics (RIP). I've always had a passion for baseball and have a growing collection of Tony Gwynn and Ken Griffey Jr. memorabilia.Comment

Re: Getting to know you.....
Eh, I'll toss my hat into the ring.
My name is Chris, I'm 21 years old, and I attend The University of Virginia, where I intend to major in computer science. Got there by way of Fredericksburg, VA, where my family moved about a year after my brother (14 months younger, also attends UVa) was born. I also have a sister four years my senior, who graduated from JMU in 2005.
My sports-related interests: my three major teams are the Virginia Cavaliers' football () and basketball (
) teams, and the Dallas Cowboys (
). I casually follow the other major sports, but if you forced me to pick teams I'd go with the Dallas Mavericks, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Minnesota Twins. No rhyme or reason to the selection of those, I know. Beyond watching sports, I play sports (specifically, flag football, basketball, and swimming) here at UVa at the intramural and pickup-game levels (unfortunately I'm too slow and clumsy to participate at levels beyond that, heh), and certainly enjoy sports video games (which explains why I stumbled upon this site in 2002 in the first place).
My non-sports related interests: about a year after being introduced to some obscure game called Guitar Hero, I bought myself the real thing (a 50th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster, for those curious) in July 2006 and I've been self-teaching myself to play guitar ever since. I also enjoy some non-sports video games, and a good game of chess every now and then (not very good, but I try) as well as other board games (namely: Risk, DOOM [yes, that DOOM]).
I'd post a photo, but I'm personally not an avid photographer and it appears that most any picture anyone has tagged of me on Facebook is too incriminating to post.Comment
