The Cubs are dead to me to a point. I still follow them, but I've emotionally disconnected from them since about 2005. The whole culture of the team changed from top down. I felt nothing when they choked again this year. I fully expected it and picked the Dodgers in 4 before the series (should've known better than to predict the cubs actually winning a game.)
Other than that I stopped rooting for the Bulls when Jerry Krause tore the team apart. Since he's been canned I wish them the best, but don't follow them or the NBA that closely anymore.
The Bears I will support no matter what no matter how much they piss me off.
In college I still support Illinois, DePaul basketball, and The U no matter how crappy they might be.
My opinion is that in pro sports there is no loyalty from anyone. Players don't give a crap about you, your city, or your team. Same with executives, managers, etc. Tradition and loyalty are usually used to fleece you of extra cash.
College to me is different. I believe you should support your college teams no matter how low they might get. Even if college sports are getting closer to professional now, I still feel you should stay loyal no matter what.
The pros? If you do you do, but if you don't, so what you don't owe them anything.
