Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Yeah I know it could be. I'm just hesitant to believe it because I've heard this before. I think it will be a bad snow storm, I just enjoy all the people going crazy over it.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Memphis couldn't be in a worse spot for this storm. No snow, no ice, no freezing rain, no severe storms...just a crapton of rain and wind followed by really cold conditions tonight. Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
All the talk here in Chicago is about the upcoming blizzard, the biggest snow storm to hit the windy city since 1967.
I don't think it will be as bad as people are making it out to be, but hopefully it gets me a day off of work tomorrow. My wife is off today and tomorrow already.Comment

You'll get a light dusting. All this storm of the century stuff is like the boy that cried wolf. I've heard it too many times before.
I remember the storm of the century though....When I was 8 we got so much snow we couldn't open the doors to the outside. Me and my Mom climbed out the kitchen window with a sled and walked about a mile to the grocery store once the snow plows came through. I remeber it because she sprung for a few star wars toys to keep me out of her hair because she knew we were going to be cooped up for a long time.
My Dad rented Bobcat to clear the driveway and we built giant forts. A whole week off of school. And when we got back to school the snow mounds where they cleared the parking lot were 20 feet high. We had the most awesome games of King on the Mountain. I am surprised noone got killed flying off there. There was some giant kid that had been held back for 2 years standing ontop. He looked like King Kong standing up there tossing little kids to their doom.
I wish everyone could experience a "Strom of the Century" it sucks if you get stuck in it, but I had great memories from it.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

This is gonna be a biggie, folks!
Just going to be some light showers passing through here, though, and we could use the rain badly...Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
I don't know if we'll get the major part of the storm, but it's already pretty bad here. Even the main roads are turrible.Comment

Swing and a miss in the tri-state area?
We were supposed to get 6-9 inches starting at 6am and it's not doing anything here on the shoreline in CT, seems like we got a dusting earlier.. Tulsa has already broken their snowfall record at 14" and it's still coming down hard. Could they make a run at 20"?
Grove, OK (ENE of Tulsa) is currently experiencing whiteout conditions.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Aaaaand here comes the snow - just turned on like a faucet.
It's not whiteout (yet, anyway), but if it keeps intensifying (and it is as I speak) it'll reach that point soon. I can still even hear some sleet mixed in, which means it hasn't all converted over to snow yet.
I'm basically right on I-44, about halfway between Springfield, MO and St. Louis (rough estimate, closer to SGF actually, but should give some idea to most people).Last edited by bcruise; 02-01-2011, 01:01 PM.Comment

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?
Well, here in Chicago we are bracing for the biggest snowstorm since 1999 and it might even be as bad as the one in 1967. Expecting 20"-24" to accumulate in the next 24 hours. Supposedly, there is gonna be 4" per hour at the height of the storm and ALSO thundering and lightening along with 50 mph winds. I'm actually looking forward to it. Should be something to see. I dont plan on coming in to work tomorrow so I'll spend the day taking pics, digging out and drinking hot chocolate.Comment
