We are in the middle of a cold front, temps are getting down to 10° and below at night, windchill in the negative and snow....and this is all in south Texas. To make matters worse the power company is doing "rolling blackouts" to "lessen the load on the electrical grid" so people are getting 5 minutes of electricity every couple hours while their homes are freezing and can't warm them up. It's quite honestly the biggest **** show I've seen.

Yeah it's similar for sure. Unfortunately the entire power grid here is managed by one company and because we rarely have situations like this with snow and continuous temps so low they weren't equipped for it. My folks live 5 minutes from me and haven't had electricity since 2am, the temp inside their house is sub 60 and there's nothing they can do about it other then wait. It'd be one thing if outages were from ice, that I could understand, but they've openly said it's "rolling blackouts" which is just beyond words.

Sorry to hear all that, my heart goes out to all of the people in Texas. Just disgusting what you are all going through. You would think this is a 3rd world country sometimes. The good news is that you should be back around 70 in a few days, hang in there!

Yeah its supposed to get better, snowed all day today but tomorrow afternoon should finally get above freezing and things will begin to thaw out. Next hurdle is water as they have a boil water advisory going and then it'll be groceries as these people wiped out the grocery stores like it was the end times so the shelves resemble early covid days when people bought up everything they could.

Re: So what's the weather like where you live?

For some, it was rolling blackouts. For others, they were just left in the dark.

When I finally left my house on Tuesday, we had been without power for 40 hours. It was 44° inside my house. We had a pipe burst inside the attic that caused a 5x10 foot section of the ceiling in the kitchen to collapse.

We went and stayed with friends. They also had no water because a pipe burst at their house. They were, however, fortunate to be having the power on for about half the day.

We came back home yesterday and should have the plumbing fixed today. The other damage, well, I'm not sure how soon it will get repaired.

Praying for you guys in Texas. I'm in central Louisiana. Didn't have any rolling blackouts in my area but they did did do it for a few parishes that I saw.

I had quite a bit of leaking in my house when the heavy freezing rain came on Wednesday on top of the sleet and snow from Monday. Mainly in my laundry room thankfully with just a few stains on the ceiling in a few spots in the main house which will be easy fixes once dried out. Power stayed on the whole time thankfully.

A rather extreme end to winter.

Tonight will feel like -20C(-4F) and by Wednesday it will feel like 8C(46F).

Thankfully this seems like it'll be the last of the extreme cold. Starting to see days in the above freezing mark so that's good.

                    More good weather days!

Today feels like 18C(64F) despite being cloudy. Wouldn't be surprised if this is a record.

Despite that, still some snow on the ground (mainly in areas where it was piled up weeks back and turned to ice).

Been really nice the past few days, but rain is on its way this evening.

My son was supposed to have his first baseball practice tonight, but it will likely be rained out

It's a winter wonderland here in the Cleveland area. 3-5 inches expected tonight. I'd say we have about 2 inches right now.

And it's supposed to be 60's and 70's next week.

In the morning everything was covered in snow. It was wet so it meant it stuck to trees too which made it look like January.

Most of it is melted now, but it leads to a weird visual. A 4 season view right out your window.

Hitting 85 degrees today. First time this year, the air conditioning has been turned on.
