My longest was my 16 hour adventure from LA to Mammoth Lakes, CA. A trip that would, under normal circumstances, take about 4 or 5 hours.

I actually drove through Robertsdale because we went to Gulf Shores for a couple days before going to a family reunion up north near Fort Payne.

              Indiana to Orlando Florida
              Indiana to Cheyenne Wyoming
Chicago burb to San Antonio Texas

I had never flown until 1995. I told my dad after flying for the first time if it takes more then 6 hours to get where we want to go by car I would rather fly.

Longest trip -- driving from LI to Maryland to meet my friends, then driving from there to Orlando (a few months after Sept. 11).. took forever, cause we were traveling with a 3 year old..

-- another long trip was going from LI to Baltimore (visiting the same friend) during the Thanksgiving week.. instead of a 4 1/2 trip, took me 8 1/2..

Last road trip - probably up to see my Aunt in Conneticut to cut down xmas trees last year..

This summer I flew into Phoenix and then made my way up to the grand canyon and then south Utah then over to New Mexico and then up 2 hours north of Boulder. This was over a 2 week span playing golf and seeing sights along the way.

I'll explain the story when I have some free time in a few days. But for now, let's just say we decided to go up to Mammoth on the day of the third biggest snow storm in their history.

Re: Last/Longest Road Trip You've Taken

I've taken the trip from southwestern PA to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a few times. Mapquest says the trip is about 10.5 hours. I did that with my family twice when I was younger.

The longest road trip I've taken with friends was a trip from southwestern PA to Ocean City, New Jersey, to visit some friends for New Years last year... it was about a 6 hour trip. Then we went about two hours north to see another friend, then another 7 or so hours west, back home. On the way back home, we ran in to a snow storm... so it took an hour or two longer than it should have.

Last-Had to drive down to a conference from Eugene to L.A. this past summer, took thirteen or fourteen hours. Was the second time I actually drove down within six months. Each time that stretch of I-5 through the Central Valley made me want to kill myself. I think it actually took longer coming back when my wife wanted to go up the 101, I guess it was worth it for the scenery though. I couldn't take another trip through the Central Valley.

Longest-Toronto to Eugene. Took five days I think. Crossed the border in Detroit. Took the I-90 so we could stop in Yellowstone. There were bikers everywhere since the Sturgis bike rally near Deadwood was going on, we had a hell of a time finding hotel rooms along the way. At one point we had to drive another two hours past Sioux Falls because every hotel there and in the next town was booked for some national girls softball tournament. Hell of a long trip, hell of a lot of scenery, it's all a blur now.

I take a road trip every summer from the south suburbs of Chicago to Tucson, AZ (I go to U of A) and back. It takes about 24 hours. Only have to make the drive one more time since I graduate this year .

every year for spring training my college baseball team would take a bus trip from NE PA to Florida (because our coach was afraid to fly)...it was anywhere from 22-26 hours depending on what part of Florida we were going to...
