That just asking for trouble, one's opinion of an unjust order could differ from someone else. And that still won't prevent incident like this from happening.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

I stick by my assessment that cops aren't peace officers, merely "law enforcement." If there were a law stating that no fat people could go to public swimming pools, you'd have cops arresting overweight people. No thought of morality goes through officer's heads, the only thought is "just doing my job."

Disagree with me all you want, but let me know when you start seeing cops disobey unjust orders. If the Military is forced to do so, peace officers should be as well.
You're a criminal. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep on living your life stuck in the past. Instead of moving on from the mistake YOU made, you would rather dedicate the rest of your life ignorantly belittling law enforcement and the government.

Good luck with that conquest, Che.

Oh, I know cops like that as well. But I was referring more towards the people who they would use those tactics (I agree with the tactics, when used against a violent criminal) against, as in what crime the individual committed. I know cops that would get in your face and put you in handcuffs simply for using your first amendment right. I also know cops who would sit and talk to you civilly, without having to resort to force.

That's true too. But there are many cops (some who have admitted it here) that they are willing to arrest an individual for a crime they disagree with. That is following an unjust order, as they themselves don't like the law.

Have you ever sped? You're a criminal.

          Have you ever j-walked? You're a criminal.

Have you ever drank underage? You're a criminal (JJ, you're a criminal!)

I'm a criminal in a lot more ways than smoking pot, and I am willing to bet you are too.

Hell, the cop who gave me my ticket is a felon. Asking for my social security number, for identification purposes, is a felony under United States Law. Should I have called the cops and had him arrested?

I'm not in law enforcement so anyone that knows correct me if I'm wrong but isn't pot a more serious offense than speeding, j-walking, and underage drinking? Wouldn't those 3 just be ticket worthy or infractions while pot usage is arrest worthy? If so then that comparison doesn't work.

And I have a random question. Which forum would you guys say you spend the most time in?

For me it's OS Neighborhood. Depending on the sport season I'm in the forums for a specific game more than OS neighborhood and disappear until later in the dev cycle but I'm in OS Neighborhood year round.

My marijuana ticket was the equivalency of a speeding ticket.

To answer your second question: OS Neighborhood, Entertainment, NFL and NCAA football. I go to the video game sections too, but my main four are the ones I listed. I usually visit them in that order too.

Given that the point of calling a person a criminal is to put a negative stigma on them, what DE did is fair game.

Absolutely. Never got caught, but I admit to breaking this law.

Probably. I no longer speed, drink underage (probably because I am 21) or jay walk, but I am sure that there are certain things I may do that break the law. There are little things that everyone does whether they mean to or not that break some kind of law somewhere. Stupid trivial things that a lot of officers don't even think twice about, like driving with your license plate light out.

But you know what? When I got my speeding ticket, or when I got a parking ticket, I knew that it was my fault. I said "Yes Sir, sorry Sir" and acknowledged that I was in the wrong and that I and no one else was responsible for my mistake. I took my punishment, understood and respected the officer for doing his job and I moved on.

You and others like you always pass the blame. You can't stand being wrong. Having someone catch you in the wrong and punishing you for it drives you crazy. It is too hard to move on when you can dwell in the past and find excuses for your own stupid actions. Instead of looking in the mirror and accepting responsibility you would rather just sit behind a computer and cast stones at the people who dedicate their lives to your safety.

I'm done. I am not going to argue this with you anymore. Believe what you want and think what you want. You have that right. But personally, grow up and start understanding that without laws and people to enforce them that this would be a very scary, orderless world.

Except a speeding ticket is just punishment, as driving is a privilege not a right. My body is mine, and it is my right to do with it as I please. That is, unless you are under the belief that, somehow, the police and the government have partial-ownership of my Body, Mind, and Soul.

If that's what you believe, then the government has every right to mandate how many calories you consume (don't want you to get too big, you've got work to do). Mandate what jobs you can or cannot work (don't want you to hurt your back at old age, they've got an investment in you). And so on and so forth. Are you willing to admit the police and the government have that power? If so....so long USA, I'm out.

An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.

True but it's not exactly the crime that makes a criminal. It's how they react to it. For example I've seen and heard about guys that sped and got caught, were nice to the cops and then got off with it simply because they admitted their error. Same thing with a murderer. If they are sympathetic to the family, know what they did is wrong, and were truly sorry for it they would get a lower sentence than someone that sits up and laughs and says no comment when asked about the crime.

There is not a person in the United States that does not speed or jay walk (aside those without a car). You are lying.

While illegal, I'm not sure smoking marijuana is really all that "wrong."

And hopefully they'll enforce the law and imprison this murderer for the rest of his life.

                              That's not true at all.

It is the crime that makes a person a criminal.

As much as people hate the comparisons, someone in the 1800s letting a runaway slave sleep in their house would be a criminal, while someone murdering a kulak in Soviet Russia or stealing a Jew's business in occupied Nazi territory would not be a criminal.

But laws have to be made under generalization. If someone gets high on weed and does something stupid that affects someone else besides them then they have to get arrested because the weed is having negative effects on not only them but society. That means that weed in general has to be illegal because you can't just have the guys that do crazy things when their high getting arrested while you have the guys, like you, that sit there silently. That would just be unfair.
