Could you fight a Dog?

Ok i was pondering this for a good while. Lets say you were being chased by a dog, would you stop and try to fight the dog once you know your not going to out run it?

Literally thinking about it, all a dog has, is it's mouth. Could you fight a dog if you felt your life depended on it? In too many cases we see events of dogs tearing people to shreds, is it really possible to fight a dog that has it out for you?

Now lets not get "Michael Vick" in here, this is only if you think your life depended on it. As much as i like dogs, there are some pretty freaking terrorizing dogs out there though.

The problem is anytime you make a move to punch/hit/grapple them they immdietely adjust their heads and their teeth are always there to greet you. The only way to mess a dog up would be for it to bite you and you just pick it up (with its teeth attached to your arm) and body slam the **** out of it onto the concrete hoping to break something. Also, during the scuffle you can hope your arms are aligned in a way where you can twist the neck region accordingly. You would be suprised how strong dogs can be, especially pit bulls which are just full of muscle. I know it sounds ridiculous, but alot of dogs can straight up dog tackle you and kick your ***

I'm a dog lover and also one of those kind of men who always prepare mentally for life and death scenarios.

You may get hurt but you can fight off a dog, bop it's nose (sensitive) grab, twist, snap one of it's legs, drop all of your body weight on it, there are many ways to disable a dog quickly if you don't panic. As long as it hasn't locked on to your neck you should win rather quickly.

If my life depended on it I'd run like I never had before because the dog would tear me to pieces. Dogs like those in the pics are huge hunks of muscle with huge teeth. They will tear you to shreds. You wouldn't stand a chance fighting unless you had a way to put them down instantly.

Maybe if he bit on to one of my arms and I was able to pin him underneath me on the ground, then I would try and take my free hand and jab one of his eyeballs out.

Original, i always thought dogs could be fought off, but after finding those pictures; i'm not too sure anymore. However if my life depended on it, i could no nothing else but try with all my might to fend it off. Kicking, punching, screaming, everything i know how to do, i would attempt.

I always carry a pocket knife too, so I'm sure that would come in handy if I can get away from him long enough to pull it out.

Either way I'm sure it would be bloody for both me and the dog.

Original, i always thought dogs could be fought off, but after finding those pictures; i'm not too sure anymore.

Since you posted a picture of one, go to my arena, and look at the picture on my card. Does that German Shepherd make you feel like you couldn't fight him off?


To answer the question though, depending on the dog, no, I don't think I could do it.

I delivered for UPS on winter break a few years and one year went to the house and there was no one home so I was going to hide the package in their yard and leave a note. As I walked down inbetween the two houses a dobermann and rottweiler showed up out of no where. I stopped and they burst through the flimsy gate and ran towards me. I ran, jumped a hedge and jumped back into the UPS truck. The dogs had stopped and were sniffing the ground. I would of thought I would of lost that fight. Even though they came at me, I kinda felt a little worried for the dogs that they wouldnt get back into their yard and possibly get hit by a car or something.

No. When I mess around with my 10 month GSD, I take him down. But I think if he really wanted to, he would win out if it were serious.

I got bit by a dog a few years ago. It wasn't too bad, but it bit me in the butt (yes, LOL) and it hurt pretty badly. Luckily, it was tied to something and I was able to get away from it by just running away since it was tied up. I had no idea the dog was there; it just popped up out of nowhere.

Anyways, to answer the question, I'd run and run until I found a gun to blow the smithereens out of the dog!
