Guinness a hyped up beer? Maybe heavily advertised, but it certainly isn't a highly rated stout by people who matter.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Basically what I was going to say. It would be comparable to saying Budlight is overhyped because it is marketed heavy and everyone & their mom drinks it.
Guinness has its time and place. Sometimes I crave a good black & tan.
Sam Smiths Oatmeal stout is another good option too.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I had a Guinness for the first time last night. It was poured properly with the fancy tap, into a Guinness glass.
Easily the most over-hyped beer on the face of the earth. Watered down junk. I didn't know the ABV was the same as a light beer. Maybe if I had known that I could have expected it to taste like water.
After drinking Guinness in Dublin I can no longer drink it here in the States, even in "Irish" pubs. Sure it doesn't have a high ABV, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a good taste. One out of every three pints in Ireland served is a Guinness so every pub there takes all the necessary steps to ensure it is as it should be.Last edited by FlyingFinn; 03-31-2016, 09:11 AM.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Recent drinking adventures for me involved:
Oak Highlands Brewing Freaky Deaky. 10% ABV. Sweet/fruit tastes with some of the bitterness I associate with IPAs. Enjoyed it.
Revolver Blood & Honey which I feel like is becoming a go to when I don't want a stout.
Ivanhoe Knights Latte. Not sure if I'd go back to it, but it was nice as I happen to like the bitterness of coffee.
Finally, I had the 2015 version of the Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine. I'm not sure what I was expecting from a barleywine, but this beer wasn't for me. Took about two or three sips and I was done with it. The sweetness was really off putting for me, and I couldn't place the fruit flavors to it.
