Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
It tasted fine, but is not my favorite brew by Sam Adams. I much much much prefer Cream Stout.
Edit*** Just looked it up, sure enough that is what it was "Winter Lager"

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Heh, I'm kind of a lightweight as well -- I don't get to the point where I puke unless I drink quite a bit pretty quickly, but 2 beers has me feeling pretty damn good. Kinda nice really, don't have to drink 4 beers to get a buzz. I don't like being drunk, but I love a buzz, so it works out... I'm usually smoking as well, so that makes it a bit stronger.
Ended up just drinking 2 of those Odell IPAs last night and felt good the whole night playing UFC.
LOL @ Dislimb.. damn son, that's quite the collection. That's like $40 worth of beer haha.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
^LOL
And yeah, I spend about $60-80 on liquor whenever I got to the bigger stores that have all the stuff I want -- normally it's 1-2 bottles of wine (one red, one white), a sixer or 12-pack of mid-level something, a nice giant artisan beer or a 4-pack, and occasionally some liquor proper. Otherwise it's a sixer or a big bottle (Red Stripe, Sapporo) from my corner store...
I try not to spend much money on booze since it's not exactly my drug of choice, but I'm starting to fiend for these IPAs...Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
You got to be a broke dude if u drinking Natty, and if you that broke you should not be drinking lol.
No, what I do is get around 11 - 6 packs of Sam Adams, Flying dog, or Abita. That is around 65 bottles of beer.
8.00 bucks a sixer and 11 of them with tax is around 95 bucks. That last for a while, I just store most the six packs and keep one in the fridge at all times.
Then when I want something I am craving, I stop by the store and get something like the Chimay.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I been wanting to get a trade going with someone. Here in Louisiana we can't get Fat Tire or Yuengling Lager.
I would be willing to swap with anyone 2 sixers of your choice of some stuff down here yall can't get like Abita or Southern Magnolia. I would like a sixer of Fat Tire and Yuengling Lager.
If anyone is interested hit me up in a PM.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Pretty close, but I found a German pub about 2 miles away from my house that has Weihenstephaner on tap for $5 a pint. Not too shabby. They have Celebrator on tap as well, but I forget the price (probably six bucks) as well as a million other brews.
I started off with the Rare Vos at dinner at a gourmet pizza place and it was $4 a pint on tap where I was. Then I had the 90 Minute IPA while I was waiting for some friends at my house which was free. Then the Duvel, Weihenstephaner, Celebrator and Three Philosophers were all at the pub and they totaled out to around $22. I left them $30 when I got the tab.
I also had another Duvel at home after I made that post which was also free. I then proceeded to chug about 3 bottles of water and pass the hell out.
I love beer.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Pretty snazzy pubs you go to that have all those nice beers on tap. Good stuff. I was happy that some local places are adding Hoegaarden draft, but I'd flip over some Rare Vos or something really nice like that on tap.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

I showed this to stumble, this is where I do my shopping here in Lafayette. It is the ONLY specialty shop here.

Reason being is like someone mentioned on that page. You can buy beer at just about any store here. Beer and liquor is EVERYWHERE so there is not much of a need for specialty shops because 90% of people don't know what a good beer is.
If this place ever closes I am opening my ownComment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
BTW, here's a BA review of the Odell that I thought hit what I was trying to say... very good beer. I think it was grapefruit that I was trying to say I smelled, because it's not sweet but almost astringent/piney. Haha, I feel her on the sniffing the glass thing, I'm gonna pour it into a big wine glass tonight just so I can huff on it some more.
"Personal favorite local brew of mine, and I am just now getting around to reviewing it. I have been so carried away w/ trading lately, that this beer gave me a wake up call saying "hey stupid, look what you can get in your own back yard!"
A - clear topaz color w/ well retaining foam top and some sexy lacing
S - huge piney and citrus nose, wow! I look like an idiot because I cannot stop picking up my glass -only to sniff not drink! (they should make air-fresheners that smell like this)
T - hop bitterness is the king of the castle, plenty of it to feed the whole family of taste buds. BUT they are kept in check by a delectable fruity, backround. Not just bready malt like so many other IPAs i've had, this fruity sweetness has character, almost tropical in a way. bitter but not overly so finish leaves me begging for more! I don't beleive a better balance can be achieved in this style.
MF - not too oily or carbonated, just right. and a medium full body.
D- too high, i can and will drink this till the cows come home.
Serving type: bottle"
It's an overall A- on BeerAdvocate... you IPA guys especially should definitely check it out.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
