Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

I like Pumpkinhead enough for an easy drinking pumpkin beer. Being from Maine, that probably skews my opinion a bit though. It's not my favorite beer, but especially on draft, I could drink a few with no qualms.

Plus, they serve it with cinnamon and sugar on the rim around here. I normally hate anything like that, but it's actually a damn good combination.

Would absolutely LOVE to spoil my palate w/ the Schlafly pumpkin ale!

I just don't like ANY of those pumpkin beers. They're all incredibly gross to me.

Was I supposed to drink the SN Torpedo at room temp? First bottle I didn't care for, the aftertaste was overpowering, but since I'm not used to IPA's I tried again yesterday, this time in a glass. Seems better in a glass, but now I'm reading something that says double IPAs should be served warm or room temp.

Flavor wise, what difference will temperature make? The guide mentions the colder the beer, the less you'll taste it. But since I'm struggling with the strong bitter flavor, shouldn't I want to taste less? Or will drinking it at room temp help somehow?

It will still be just as bitter. I don't know about room temp(I'm not a fan of beer at that temp no matter what it is), but letting them warm a little usually increases the flavor. I did this with one of the Torpedos I drank, after reading 55's post a few pages back, and I could definitely tell a difference vs drinking them ice cold.

Got a sixer of DuClaw Hell Razer waiting for me in the fridge when I get home from work to watch the Notre Dame-Michigan game.

Speaking of DuClaw, I recently tried their chocolate peanut butter porter, Sweet Baby Jesus, yes that's really the name, and I gotta say I enjoyed it thoroughly.

And I saw Matrix mention the Brooklyn Summer Ale; it's the only one I've had by them, never heard of it before til I was in a restaurant in NYC, but I definitely liked it. Wish it was around my way, but I really can't complain because Maryland has awesome beer and my liquor store is stocked with all the best.

Big taste difference compared to Pale Ale?

I had a couple last night. It is a very solid beer.

Ahh HELL yeah...it's a brown ale. Not as hoppy as pale ales...this one is just a little hoppier than most browns, yet balanced & malty with brown sugar, toasted malt, molasses, hint of chocolate...I know, sounds like dessert huh lol
this is MUST try man fo sho.

Tumbler is my favorite beer that I've tried in the last couple years. As much as I love the summer months, fall means Tumbler is out, and that's good enough for me.
