Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
It's tough getting replies. I normally find something in their profile to ask them about, and if I can make a joke about it, all the better. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
I had some mild success with finding girls online during high school and college, but that was through myspace and facebook rather than any of the specialized dating sites, although I did use the hot or not app on facebook and meet a couple people off there. One of the last people I met up with though was an epic disappointment, pic made her appear to be a maybe 5'5 slender chick with maybe hawaiian/phillipino descent... Went to meet up with her and called her saying I couldn't find her, turns out she was the probably 4'8, round chick staring right at me... no backing out at that point.
Went up to her dorm with her to hang out for a bit, she kept saying "I feel like you're really disappointed" and being the nice guy that I am, I insisted otherwise, made out for a bit to prove my point (YOLO?), then she started sucking my nips and the awkwardness reached new heights. Never texted her again, went home and immediately removed my hot or not account. Then probably a year later I got a call from Cutco saying she had recommended me for a job there... WAT.
So yeah, I stick to in person now. Reading this thread almost made me venture to OKC or POF just to diversify my options and whatnot, but then things turned serious with one of the girls I was casually dating so now I must live vicariously through your guys' escapades.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
I've every tried everything from pointing out a common interest, to using the swanson frozen dinner line posted a few pages back. The most recent girl I went out on a date on I said "Hey, I was trying to think of something clever to say and started to get a headache. So I figured I would just be uncreative and tell you that my name is [insert name here] and ask you what's up?"
One method that I am surprised has failed is suggesting a place to eat in the area when they mention how they love to try new places in the DFW area. I made it as un-creepy as possible(maybe it was really creepy I don't know) and said "Great place to try in Dallas = [insert cool restaurant I know about]. You should try it even if you don't reply back". I figured if they were interested that would get a reply.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
I think I do pretty well not taking it personally, I just like knowing what happened. The long-distance girl messaged me late one night then again early the next morning. Now she won't respond. I strongly suspect it's due to the distance and/or she met a guy who lives closer. But it'd be nice to know that for sure, if only so I could say I had a really hot girl interested in me and it totally would have worked out if I hadn't lived so dang far away ... forget it, I'm going to say that anyway.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
One question... Why are people in High School or College using online dating sites? In high school/college there are soooooo many reasons to be together with women why in the world would you need to go online to meet someone.Comment

Re: Anyone try online dating sites?
High school it's just people trolling or whores. Depends on the situation for college though. Up until this last semester I didn't need it because I lived at my University. Then I got an internship and moved back home and worked full time and only did online classes. I live in a relatively small town with no singles scene. The girl I am currently talking with also interns and does grad school online so they are never on campus either. Technically we are still in college, but live a non-college life.Comment

Well that date I wasn't that excited to go on turned out real well. Cuter in person than her pics, real good conversation for about 3 hours over coffee and walking around the town. Will see her for dinner/drinks next weekend.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Originally posted by Happy29Well the girl I have been talking to hasn't messaged me in a few days then tonight she sends me a message and says her little girl has been sick which I understand having kids myself, but she said she wants to give me a call tomorrow. What you guys think should I give her my number?
Edit and she said she loves talking on the phone and that is one thing I can not stand is talking on a phone.
You could always recommend Skype.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment
