WOW. No need for that. That guy needs to be fired. You can get a person down without doing that.My latest project - Madden 12 http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043231648Comment

Re: Police Slam Wrong Man Into a Wall..In coma now
Well of course a negative police story will usually garner more attention than a positive one. Officers are expected to do the correct thing, so when they don't it's a bigger deal. The same goes for any occupation.
For instance, a teacher whose entire class passes a state exit-level exam won't be on the news, but a teacher that assaults a student will be.
Don't handle situations the wrong way and that certain police department won't get a bad image.
That video is just sickening. The officer handled the situation almost as badly as possible, and he should be punished for it. Simple as that.Comment

Absolutely. A lot of times it helps them perpetuate their being the victim whenever they get caught doing things wrong.Comment

Re: Police Slam Wrong Man Into a Wall..In coma now
Damn, that was one hell of a hit. I usually don't really pay attention to this stuff, and I believe the cop should be fired instantly, but it looks to me as if the guy is "running away" in a sort of slow jog. It only makes the cops believe that he really is the suspect, thus getting the "hit stick" tackle. Still, I'm disgusted by the cop's action; the man could've been halted without that sort of force.
Sad to see these things happen, and yes, the cop should be fired or put in jail, but remember, if a cop is pursuing you, obey their orders and try to avoid the rebel inside you. I think Springsteen put it best in "American Skin (41 Shots)" :
She says "On these streets, Charles
You've got to understand the rules
If an officer stops you, promise me you'll always be polite
And that you'll never ever run away
Promise Mama you'll keep your hands in sightComment

Re: Police Slam Wrong Man Into a Wall..In coma now
Was the guy resisting arrest? It looks like he had been running from the cop. That doesn't entirely excuse the cop as it looks like the kid was pulling up and raising his hands, but you should never run from a cop if you're innocent. There's no need to.Comment

That's the point I was trying to make. The slow jog away from the cop did not help his case. It only gives the cop more motive to believe that the kid was actually the suspect.Comment

Re: Police Slam Wrong Man Into a Wall..In coma now
I definitely thought I'd see a totally different thing. I can't agree that the cop needs to be arrested. They got a tip from someone that this guy was a criminal. No telling what the situation was about. I can definitely understand investigation portions of situations like this. In all honesty, the cop did handle the situation wrong but we definitely don't know the whole story. That was a gruesome hit. I hope the kid isn't paralyzed at all because the momentum really put him in a awkward position.
I do agree that cops get a bad rep. HOWEVER, a lot of the cops that do bring about all the publicity are cops that are REPEAT OFFENDERS who do the same crap over for not just a couple years, but decades. Only because they've been with the force for 20+ years do they get to slide over and over until they think they're above the law. It's sickening why cops don't get reprimanded more often when they cross the line. Make them suffer when they slip the first time. Don't make a three-strike rule. First slip, a month with no pay. Second slip, termination. Of course after they get thier investigation into how sensible they were within the situation. Just my thoughts about the situation. Pray that the man wakes up well.......Comment

If these officers were ever held accountable for their actions I'm sure it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but that's not what happens. At worst they get fired even though if anyone who wasn't working for the police beat or shot someone and was caught clear as day on camera doing it, they would be arrested, charged, and convicted.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

And the stupid thing is that usually when you get the stories about cops that end up going too far and killing someone it always comes out that they had numerous complaints in the past.I definitely thought I'd see a totally different thing. lol, hard to spend money when you're not conscious. Only place that money will be going is your hospital bills.
But yea, that was a heck of a hit. In fact I'm tempted to ask Ian if he's the one that was doing mocap for Madden the past few years. But it was definitely excessive.
