I wasn't even disagreeing with it. But from how I interpreted the post, it sounded like it was impossible to do it or that you HAD to go to College to make good money. That's how I interpreted it and that's why I asked.

I'm only 22 but im already making the amount of money(legally) that it would take a College graduate a couple of years to make and I didn't even go to College and I know a few other people that are doing the same.

That's great, and it's great that you know a few people that are doing the same.

But I love how you put "facts" in quotes in your previous post, as if actual cold hard statistics are lies and your own (limited by comparison) life experiences are the truth.

I really need to be done with this thread, it's just frustrating me at this point.

I do not think anyone disagreed with this, I was just making the argument that you do not need college to make a good living in this country.

I agreed with this point from the start. You can make a good living for sure.

But then other people started to come in and use off base comparisons with no stats, to suggest that people can routinely not go to college and make more than an average college graduate. That's where the thread really got derailed.

Never not one time said the facts that you presented were false or anything. Hell I even said in that I wasn't disagreeing with Cebby or you. Again, I said from how I(me personally)interpreted the post, it made it seem like it was impossible for people who went to trade school to make more than people who graduated from College. Again, that was how I(me)interpreted(misunderstood)the post and that's why I posted what I put the word facts in parenthesis. Never said anybody was wrong or was I ever ignoring facts but if you wanna get frustrated or upset over some things being said on a message board or because some folks aren't agreeing with your points, then that's your problem.

That is incorrect.

A recent grad out of college is always looked at for GPA. I'm an Engineering Recruiter and many companies request transcripts for recent college grads and for frauds. I've discovered one person who claimed to have a 4 year engineering degree and discovered he didn't even exist at the college he claimed he did. Also, companies want to see if you were active during college and uphold your grades.

Usually, the first two companies you start your career with will ask for college transcripts. After that, companies don't bother.

Sure for some jobs, but not all. The jobs I looked at only wanted to see my degrees. They didn't care that I had honors.

Actually wanting the transcripts is different than wanting your GPA. They want the Trans to see if you took the right classes at least that is what they did for me with this teaching job.

That is not true. I have facts. My friends make a lot more than me and they don't have college degrees. That is facts enough for me. But if you want a internet link to see that go to, oh never mind.

He is talking about on a national level, but if they really did the stats right and added all non college trade jobs, then you would see a pretty didn't number. That is all I am saying. A lot of trade jobs make just as much or more (depending on overtime) as college or degree jobs. Then if you throw in nursing school, oh boy they make bank.

You are correct, some companies don't ask, but at least in the engineering profession, it's asked on a consistent basis.

Yes, they want to see if you took the correct courses, plus, they want to see if you were active in college, walk and chew gum at the same time, and they want to find out if the GPA on the resume adds up to the GPA on the transcripts.

I've had a few that put their GPA higher on the resume vs the transcripts.

It's a bit sad that the guy some of you guys who are/were railing on for his grades is the only one who tried to keep his own topic ON-TOPIC and try to keep it cool among you people debating. Dude was simply asking what people's plans for the summer were and people suddenly start preaching about GPAs, degrees, jobs, etc. I think we, and GOD OF LIFE, get the point. You guys aren't his parents or teachers or whatever.

While it's nice to know that people here seem to care for this man's future by discussing the importance (or not so importance) of grades, college, and getting a degree, you guys don't need to sound so pompous about it.

For what it's worth man (GOL), I hope you try and get your grades up and maintain them throughout high-school. While I personally believe school isn't everything, it certainly makes it easier to have a better and secure future. Enjoy your summer and $200.

I believe it's a reference to GOL's constant attempts to sound "ghetto." Consider, for example, his use of the words "swag," "chickenhead," "dope," etc.
