So becasue I am not finding internet proof it doesn't count? OK, now I seen it all thank you! Have a good day. I am showing you life experiences. That is my proof. I was going to go into the trade field and that was what they were starting out with. But I am not going to find internet proof, becasue believe it or not the internet lie too. I am sure I can find some slick site that will prove my point too.But why? I done with this bickering. Also, I am a teacher I have study all the trades and the money they make. It is my job. Any ways have a good summer GOL.
Your life experiences are a very small piece of the pie. I have found averages from across the country... various jobs, various levels of experience. I'm quite confident that overall, college graduates will make more than people that don't graduate college.
I never said that not going to college is a bad thing, but it just means you probably don't have the same earnings potential. I'm just trying to make you understand that you are trying to compare college graduates with the very top earners among those that don't go to college, and you are using a very slanted comparison.

No, but when you try to say that people that go to college make more then the trade world, then I call B.S. But it all good! You guys keep thinking that.
Most electricians make more then your college degree jobs. That is all I am saying. But I will agree that you have a better chance of making more money by having a college degree. But that is becasue the low paying jobs get thrown in those stats. If you were to throw the trade jobs I am sure that total would be higher.
Of course the low-paying jobs get thrown in. If I had mommy and daddy to leech off of for longer than I have been, and for more that I could... I would so be there.
If they pay for my housing and such, yeah you can say it's sad... but why? Because you can't do it? Life isn't about work. It's about the people, relationships, and things you do to better yourself as a person.
Take me for example. I'm a raging alcoholic, it has gotten me into some very bad life situations. Still paying for those (monetarily, and otherwise)... but I don't consider myself a bad person. I have friends that have been there for me through thick and thin, and my closest friend out here met me at a very low point in my life yet she still stuck around.
I'll take those friendships over any amount of cash any day. Life is what you make of it bro.
GoL, keep doing what you do. Just realize that life is not all fun and games - it will get serious. Enjoy it while you don't have too many real worries, don't let people get you down. You'll change your tune, look back one day, and say " Damn , I was that messed up back then? I really said/did that? "
Don't have any regrets, just make smart decisions. If I was sitting here, telling you to study I would be a hypocrite. I slacked majorly in school (My college GPA is about floor level, my high school was about a 2.5 ish...) Funny thing is I hear it every day because my test scores were (are) out of the roof. Despite how I come off on message boards, or in every day life... I'm very intelligent. I know this. I have aced college tests for classes I have never enrolled in (long story behind those), or have never studied for. Life isn't all about what you know. It's about finding what makes you happy as well.
If I could give you one piece of advice that I learned... Keep your options open. Get the best grades you can now so you don't handcuff yourself down the road. 4.0 is NOT attainable for everyone, but I know you can do better than a 2.0. You may decide college is not right for you - I did... and like I said my test scores, and everything else pointed to the fact that I should be graduating with honors next year... You only have one life to live, just KEEP YOUR OPTIONS OPEN.badComment

It's drifted so far and away from the original GOL post, and devolved into digs here and there, that's it's become worthless.
And if it's NOT locked, I graduated H.S. with a 3.76, on a 4.0 scale, and if I was fortunate enough to be at a weighted grade (5.0) school for honors and AP courses I would have had a 4.8. I also graduated with a Civil Engineering degree at a cumulative 2.74 with a last two years, major GPA of 3.53.
Again, these back and forth worthless "e-peen" debates need to stop. So what if "God of Life" passed ninth grade with a 2.0. Normally this thread would be on the third, fourth, or fifth page. We are comparing all jobs for people with college degrees against jobs for people without college degrees. Trade jobs are a small slice of the pie. You are trying to pick an choose your argument here.

Seriously, why waste any more time on this stupid argument? He passed ninth grade, and some here have degrees, high school diplomas, or the "hardest worker" award at their job.

I think you are incorrect. A highly rated, experienced electrician in a very expensive part of the country (Cali, Chi, or NYC) may make close to 100 thous, but in those parts of the country, people with degrees will also be paid more.
You just made that number up. The median pay for an electrician in Cali is a little under $26 an hour.Comment

The national average for an electrician with 20+ years of experience is a few hundred over $50,000.
I think you are incorrect. A highly rated, experienced electrician in a very expensive part of the country (Cali, Chi, or NYC) may make close to 100 thous, but in those parts of the country, people with degrees will also be paid more.

Wow... that's a pretty diverse set of grades. How do you get A's and B's and an F? Bad teacher? Tough subject?
I think I ended high school with a 3.58 or something like that. It was out of 4.25 and Honors classes added an extra point... so the highest in an honors class was 5.25. I was right around the top quarter of my class... about 50th of 200.
My math grade my Senior year was pretty funny. I was in Honors Calculus. I got an 88 the first 9-week-period, then an 83, then a 72, then a 59... lol... I just didn't care. My SAT scores were really good, and I disliked the subject matter so much. My best friend sat behind me and we would break out into song during class... teacher hated us.
I just have to do better next year, freshman year I had an average of a 2.7gpa, so this year I wanted to get an average of a 3.0 at least. Last semester I had a 2.8(F in chemistry(known to be the hardest class at our school considering the teachers are crazy having a contest to see who has more F's in their class) took me down, all other grades were pretty good. Anyways, hoping to get into a CSUS school or if I really improve next 2 years a UC school.

Bad teacher, tough teacher. Also my sister had that same teacher her sophomore year, and she's currently ranked top 5 in the school... high expectations?

But you still go to school, though your not in college you still have to go to a trade school during your employment. There are lots of fields like the one I mentioned too, hard part is finding one and actually keeping your job. I got laid off about 6 months ago and I am pretty sure I am not going to get called back...My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment
