I would think that any quality university would not let you graduate with a 2.0 average.

The schools I've attended kicked you out of the major if you maintained less than a 2.5.

Why is everyone raggin on the dude for getting a 2.0. Maybe that's the best he can do? Maybe its not? But the bigger point is why does anyone here really care about this dudes gpa??

Auburn's was engineering, so that might explain that.

At UMD, you actually only need a 2.0, but to get into my major, you need Bs in a few courses and a 2.7 GPA overall. Then again, not getting an A or a B at Maryland requires you to only have half of a brain.

If your kid was in my class he would be in jail. So maybe that is why I realize that a 2.0 is good. I teach in jail, so if a kid has a 2.0 that is great.

Well, that is a big difference. 2.0 is not good for an average student, but obviously you are not teaching average students. Huge difference there, and yes, I would consider a 2.0 a good accomplishment for those students.

You have some learning to do my friend. School is not easy for everyone. I was just like you I didn't study and got a 3.2, but that is not the norm. Some have to really study just to get a 2.0 and then there you are hating on that, but nothing new with OS. But what ever.

I said that already. But GOL wasn't really studying hard and getting a 2.0... until his recent time away from the forums he spent a lot of time here. I understand that some people need to study harder and struggle more with school... I am not "hating on that." Good grief. I am, however, "hating" on people who spend time on here when they clearly need to spend more time concentrating on school. I am also "hating" on people being rewarded for the bare minimum.

I was celled for a longtime and definently learned my lesson in there and i promised to change which i have done i have been respectful to everryone since i got back and have stayed out of a lot of topics where i would of said somethen bad before but now i just skip them if i have nothing good to say.

Sentences, capitalization, and correct spelling are your friend.

I am jealous. I wish my parents gave me 200 for a 2.0. When I passed the CSet test; I bought a LCDTV. And when I get this Masters degree and teaching credential, I will buy a new car. I like rewards!

And a Master's degree is a lot different than a 2.0 in the 9th grade (though I do also realize a car is a lot different than $200).

But the main thing I am getting at here, is that there shouldn't need to be a $200 reward as motivation for a C average. I mean, really... what is this world coming to? Everything needs to have an incentive or a reward these days, it really is ridiculous.

Avoiding summer school should be enough of a "reward" in itself.

If you have a kid that is funking out of HS and all they need is a 2.0 to graduate; you will do all you can as a parent to motivate that kid. I would do the same thing with my sons
