I have glasses... nothing worse than a bunch of water on my glasses just because it's sprinkling a bit... then you gotta wipe them, which inevitably causes smears if they weren't perfectly clean before the rain, etc... ugh.

So yeah, I use an umbrella any time I have it on me and it's raining. I carry a small one in my work bag, so I generally have it with me. I actually like being out in the rain normally unless it's pouring, but with glasses, it's just annoying.

LMAO...Marines adapt and overcome, I did...with my umbrella.

Downtown Chicago, no umbrella, too windy for that!!! Plus I'd rather smell like the fragrance I put on, not the one nature put on me.

No umbrella. There is a man law against it.

Marines in any uniform are not allowed to carry an umbrella (unless you happen to be a female Marine, then it's okay.)

If you have a lady next to you, you can hold it for them but cannot yourself walk under it.

That's enough law I need. Though when did I start following MCOs?

But like I said...I'd only use an umbrella if wearing a suit.

Otherwise it seems effeminate to me. It's a freaking polo shirt and jeans for crying out loud...it's not like your Sunday best.

Well there's actually a lot more involved.

                (1) I typically stay in doors when it rains.
                (2) If I am out, I'm finding a parking space nearest to the store/entrance.
                (3) I'm married......

no really I care about my appearance, but I'm typically not outside when it rains and if I am, I'm prepared...but w/ a jacket and/or hat. That's all I need to get from the parking lot to my car (@work), and from my parking spot directly in front of my townhome to my frontdoor.

Seriously, if I lived in the city and used public transportation exclusively, I'd use an umbrella.

Well I HAVE to go to work whether it rains or not. I don't drive my car to work because I refuse to pay for parking in downtown DC. So I don't have much of a choice.

I checked and I wrote about the same things in the 2008 thread and this thread.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Before I moved to Arizona, I didn't usually use one. I drive to work and places, and didn't have to walk far to get to my car. I'd just run if it was pouring.

I've got nothing against it, I'm just not usually walking in the rain like a lot of you are. Maybe more cities where public transportation actually exists?

I'd definitely need one if I had a 20 minute walk in the rain, or I'd have a raincoat of some sort.

My skin is waterproof and I where clothes for the weather. I work outside sometimes no matter what the weather. I have never owned an umbrella.

No. I never use one. I don't have a problem with guys using them, but I don't see the need. If I don't want to get wet, I just wear a coat, and, honestly, a lot of the time I don't even wear a coat. I like the feeling of getting rained on and the coolness that comes with it during the summertime when it's warm outside.
