Just because society becomes more liberal or open-minded, DOES NOT mean that things once wrong, are now OK or acceptable...it just means people have lost their back bone and bought the lie that truth is relative. No friend, truth is truth. Always has been, always will be.
What you hold to be a standard of absolute truth is only absolute for you.

We as a nation are not far removed from others controlling the concept of "Absolute truth" that women and other races were inferior to white men. This was never the TRUTH and accepting it was less about backbone and more about close mindedness.

You have and hold your opinion as is your right...but do not mistake it my "friend" for truth.

Yeah - because murdering someone and dressing in clothes intended for the other gender (or for the gender you feel you were perhaps meant to be) is entirely the exact same thing...

But some people apparently think you shouldn't be able to hold a position because they disagree with a personal lifestyle that completely harmless to everyone around them.
No...people should not be able to hold any position they wish regardless of their personal life. People in authority roles are to be held to a higher standard because they are an example to the people and a representative of the area they represent.

If this is something he likes to do, it would do him well not to galavant up and down the streets as a woman if he didn't want to end up on national news...because now he is being made a fool.

Absolute truth is not relative to the individual...

"The sun is hot..."--true for everyone.

"Abortion is flat out wrong..."--true for everyone

And you are right, other races nor women are inferior to white men. I'm not sure why you choose to bring that up, but it is indeed an ignorant point of view...that is actually a great example of an accepted philosophy being completely wrong and an abomination in the sight of God.

...I'm not sure as to why you assume that I hold to that opinion, either. Strange.

I have to leave this thread now, ignorance and hate pisses me off to no extent, and it wouldn't be good for me to continue reading this disgusting thread; I'd probably earn myself a banning - and it's simply not worth it.

Re: Town scolds mayor over his skimpy skirt

My PERSONAL view. I feel that a man should dress like a man, a women dress like a women. If the guy is a homo then his sexual preference is up to him. But I for one don't want to see a man walking around in a mini skirt. This is not good for children, this kind of behavior should NOT be acceptable.

I will never accept a man that dresses as a women, simple as that. Call me close minded, or whatever. I am old school I guess in the right that I feel what he chooses to do in his own company is one thing. But I don't want to see this flaunted around the country like it should be alright. Because it is not.

All I know is I find it disgusting

The abortion comment was completely uncalled for. You knew what was going to happen when you said it.

And you clearly don't understand deaduck's comments about women and society's of recent past.

People have the right to disagree with people's lifestyles. I'm not going to argue that... But I'm downright saddened that people think that also gives them the right to hold those people down; like they don't have the right or ability to hold a position because of their lifestyle. It's stuff like that that makes this world a worse place to live in every single day; and it's stuff like that that needs to be cast away.

Dammit Timmay I didn't want to respond to this thread lol.

Ok, so because someone isn't a supporter of this homosexual movement they're automatically a homophobe? I hate that term because it suggests that people are somehow afraid of these people. No, some of us just think that lifestyle is disgusting. I have a close family member that I found out was gay a few years back. I didn't turn my back on her and I still love her, but I didn't act like I was happy to hear it either. It's possible to still peacefully coexist with someone despite what you may feel about what they do in their personal life.

I also have a little beef with how you grouped the "isms" together with homosexuality. Unless you broadcast it to the world that roll in the sheets with another person of the same gender, nobody knows what your sexual preference is. It especially irks me when people try to group civil rights and the fight to be gay in the same pot because it's not even close to being the same thing.

Would you be content with a guy who carried himself like the man in the video being your child's teacher?

                          Let iron somethings out...

The sun is not hot if you're in orbit around this planet...in fact, in outer space the lack of heat is polarizing. It's an example of someone thinking a "fact" is based only on their point of view.

Pretty much what you're doing inside this thread.

You're spouting your opinions with the weight of someone who believes them to be "absolute truths"....just like those morons, not so long ago, who thought women shouldn't be allowed to vote or African Americians couldn't be president.

You are todays version of yesterdays bigot/racist.

Hate away, because time will pass you and your "truths" by.

Umm, actually they are the same thing. It's not a "right to be gay", it's a "right to be gay while also have the same rights that everyone else has"... the gay part shouldn't matter, just the assurance that they're treated the same as everyone else. I don't care if you think it's a choice or not, denying people rights for a lifestyle difference is just as un-American as denying women the right to vote or any other civil rights issues that's come up. They didn't commit a crime (the only official reason that we deny civil rights to people), they didn't hurt anyone, and therefore it's not okay for outside entities to parse their rights out according to what they feel they deserve... bottom line.

It's fine that you're disgusted by this or wouldn't want a gay person teaching your kid at school, that's on you and your personal views. But I'll never understand the need for people to proselytize and push their views on other adult human beings (and try to enforce it via denying them legal rights/privileges that heterosexuals and ideally everyone enjoy) who generally have nothing to do with their daily lives. Yeah, if you find out your kid's teacher is a crossdresser and you're uncomfortable with it (probably because you don't understand it enough to explain it to a child), do what you wanna do... but supporting denying that person's rights to run for public office, to adopt children of their own, to marry whomever they choose is just asinine to me.

Also, do you think a school would knowingly hire a person who is an open crossdresser? It's not right, but they would all expect the backlash from parents with the same mindset as you and would just find a reason not to hire the person, much as employers do with persons with disabilities because they don't want to have to make accommodations... if they can justify hiring someone else ("they were more qualified") then they certainly will.

I'd have a problem with my kid going to a school and having a teacher who said half the things you just expressed. Give me the qualified transgendered individual -- then I could have a nice talk with my kid and make them a more open-minded and compassionate individual who accepts people for who they are and judges them on their own merits as human beings instead of just accepting society-at-large's distaste for a large segment of the population at face value... Win-win.

I'm only gonna say one more thing...

I think its very funny that those who claim to be the tolorant ones are the ones that resort to insults and presumptions, all the while claiming to be tolorant.

You're method of debate has displayed more intolerance than anything I've said here.

I'm a bigot and a racist??? Wow...news to me. I've had many gay friends despite the fact that I didn't agree with their sexual practices. They are some of the coolest people, funnest to hang out with, that I've ever met.

Doesn't mean that I let them determine my convictions or stance on certain issues.

You're not gonna change me, I'm not gonna change you...lets leave it at that, eh?
