Re: Prenuptial agreements
It was one of those dumb mistakes people make when they're younger. I was 22 she was 21 and she wanted to get married so, we did. But, I guess that's what I got after marrying a chick that I only dated for 10 months or so.
But, the good thing is that I've learned from my mistakesMy 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Prenuptial agreements
I disagree, if you go into a marriage like that what does that say to the spouse. Unless they agree with that thinking too. The problem is people need to go into marriage with a better or worst thinking. But this is just my opinion on the subject, but I have been married for 13 years, so I must be doing something right and I have counseled married couples before when I was a pastor and have a degree in Biblical counseling. So I do have some knowledge on the matter.
I'll never understand this line of thinking. You cant control your spouse. You cant guarantee that they will always love you. You cant guarantee that they wont cheat. You cant guarantee that they wont beat on you. You can hope they wont do those things. You can choose to believe that they wont do those things but you cant guarantee it. All a prenup does is protect you in case his/her promise to never leave you falls through. A women should want that protection too.
Its great that you have been married for 13 yrs but if your wife walks in the house today and says she wants to leave you....there goes 50% of what you own because you live in CA. You may have that "for better or worse" mentality but you cant guarantee that she does.Comment

I understand what you are saying and it is true, but when you really love someone I think people would not think this way. You think the best not the worst of what can happen. If she leaves oh well life goes on, but to think this before she leaves, I just disagree. I look at marriage as a gambler. You just never know what can happen, but you can't start your marriage of with this unless you both are agreeable than I guess it would be OK. I know my dad and step mom have one, but my step mom had more money than my dad. They have been married 22 years. So I guess it can work.Comment
