Sweet! I love it. Now give him 5years in prison and a $500,000 fine and get those kids away from the Dad. I hope the mom rolls on him.

With all the sadness and dispair that happens in this world, these two pieces of **** felt the need to stage this nonsense in order to promote themselves for reality TV?

Lock'em away and let them get a dose of "reality" that they are so desparately seeking.

Wow, now that it's been confirmed a hoax, that is pretty messed up. What were they thinking? I highly doubt they'll ever get a reality TV show, but they sure created a media circus around all this. So in a sense, they got what they wanted but they're gonna have to pay a hefty price.

I can't believe there not going to get any jail time. They cost us the taxpayers a lot of money, put a lot of people at risk, and most importantly, took resources like EMT, Police that could of been used for real emergencies. They should be locked up and kids taken away from them.

I was was listening to CNN and they were saying that the local charges may not be severe, Federal Charges will be pretty stiff because the Army used Kiowas to search for this kid.

First off.. I think the kids need to be taken away from their parents...

Second... I will put money that they will get some sort of Book, Tv, or whatever deal.. That's the way society is...

With that said I hope the parents get sentenced to jail. If not jail Hefty fines... Do you know how much money they caused these states to loose?? I don't know the cost but I'm sure it costs in the millions in resources... They need to fine these guys whatever the cost is, This way when they do get the Television deal, ore whatever, The profit will go to paying the states back

Yeah, and while they are at it, they can figure out how much Octo-clown has caused the taxpayers and get her to pay restitution too.

I'm sick of idiots costing the taxpayers money and not ever having to reimburse any of it back when they get a paycheck for their idiocy.

The good news for the dad is that he may well end up on a Reality TV show, bad news is it will be MSNBC's Locked Up.

CNN) -- It's just one thing after another for Richard and Mayumi Heene. They've caused such an uproar after last week's alleged balloon boy hoax that Lifetime won't air a re-run of their "Wife Swap" episode. <!--startclickprintexclude-->
<!----><!--===========IMAGE============--><!--===========/IMAGE===========--><!--===========CAPTION==========-->The Heene family's "Wife Swap" episode has been pulled from Lifetime's programming schedule.

<!--endclickprintexclude-->Those who pay close attention to TV Guide would have noticed that the Heene family's first episode for the ABC reality show was scheduled to air on Lifetime on Thursday, October 29, at 2 p.m. ET.

"It was on the schedule long before the incident," a Lifetime spokesperson said. The incident refers to the giant, homemade balloon that sailed over Colorado on Thursday, purportedly carrying 6-year-old Falcon Heene.

The bubble burst when authorities discovered Falcon had been hiding in a box in the attic. During an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, the Heene's asked Falcon why he didn't come out as they searched for him, and the boy replied, "You guys said we did it for a show."

That triggered an investigation that revealed the frightful incident was a hoax, police said. Richard and Mayumi Heene are now facing a number of local charges, and the Federal Aviation Administration has begun its own balloon boy investigation, officials said.

As a result, Lifetime has decided to erase the family's "Wife Swap" past from the network.
                              <!--startclickprintexclude-->
"Once we found out" [it was allegedly a hoax], the spokesperson said, "we decided to pull it off the air. At this time, we don't have any plans to air it in the near future."

The episode depicted Karen Martel, whose husband runs a child-proofing business, as being shocked "as the Heene kids jump off banisters and run wild, and appalled by Richard's attitude to women," according to the description on ABC's Web site. "Wife Swap" asks its participants to switch places for two weeks.

"Meanwhile, at the Martels'," the description continued, "Mayumi Heene sees safety gates everywhere and wonders how the family [has] fun. She asks the kids about their anxieties and confronts Jay about the climate of fear in his house."
Lifetime plans on filling the time slot with a "Wife Swap" episode that features another family, but rest assured, the Heene's reality TV debut can still be found on YouTube. <!--startclickprintexclude-->

'Balloon Boy' parents sentenced to jail

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Dec. 23) -- The parents who carried out the balloon boy hoax were sentenced to jail Wednesday and given strict probation conditions that forbid them from earning any money from the spectacle for four years.

Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in jail, including 60 days of work release that will let him pursue his job as a construction contractor while serving his time. His wife, Mayumi, was sentenced to 20 days in jail.

Richard Heene choked back tears as he said he was sorry, especially to the rescue workers who chased down false reports that his 6-year-old son had floated away in a balloon on Oct. 15. It was a stunt designed to generate attention for a reality TV show.

"I do want to reiterate that I'm very, very sorry. And I want to apologize to all the rescue workers out there, and the people that got involved in the community. That's it," said Richard Heene, whose wife did not speak at the hearing.

Larimer County District Judge Stephen Schapanski then ordered Heene to begin a 30-day jail term on Jan. 11, delaying the start of the sentence for two weeks so he can spend the holidays with his family. Schapanski allowed Heene to serve the remaining 60 days of his jail term under work release, meaning he can work during the day but spend his nights in jail.

The Heenes' probation will be revoked if they are found to be profiting from any book, TV, movie or other deals related to the stunt.

"This, in simple terms, was an elaborate hoax that was devised by Mr. and Mrs. Heene," the judge said.

The Heenes pleaded guilty to charges that they carried out the balloon hoax, with deals that called for up to 90 days in jail for the husband and 60 days for his wife.

Schapanski ordered Mayumi Heene to serve 20 days in jail after her husband completes his sentence. Her time served is flexible - she can report to jail on 10 weekends, for example - so the children are cared for, the judge said.

Prosecutors asked for the maximum sentence for the husband, saying that a message needs to be sent to promoters who attempt to carry out hoaxes to generate publicity. Chief Deputy District Attorney Andrew Lewis also asked for full restitution to reimburse authorities for the cost of investigating the hoax - an amount that could exceed $50,000.

"People around the world were watching this unfold," he said. "Mr. Heene wasted a lot of manpower and a lot of money in wanting to get himself some publicity."

He added, "Jay Leno said it best when he said, 'This is copycat game.' And people will copycat this event. (The Heenes) need to go to jail so people don't do that."

He portrayed the Heenes as growing increasingly desperate as their pitches for a reality TV show kept getting turned down by networks - and the family fell deeper into a financial hole. Lewis said the Heenes set in motion the balloon hoax in early October as a way to jumpstart the effort and get some attention.

They chose Oct. 15 because the weather was cooperating and the kids were home for school with parent-teacher conferences, allowing the Heenes to report that 6-year-old Falcon had floated away, Lewis said.

Once the parents were brought in for questioning, Richard Heene feigned sleep during the lie-detector test, claiming it was some sort of diabetic episode, Lewis said.

David Lane, Richard Heene's attorney, pleaded for leniency with the judge and said that the couple "have learned a lesson they will never forget for the rest of their lives." He also said that if someone has to go to jail, let it be Richard Heene and not his wife.

"That is his plea. That would be something of a Christmas miracle if that can occur," he said.

Regarding the bolded section in the middle, I don't approve of this. Jail at night isn't enough for this guy, he needs the full effect. If this is the case, his sentence should be doubled. He already gets to spend Christmas with his exploited family... you don't see murderers get these "allowances" when they have to serve a life sentence.
