But because he and the dog were walking side by side, they were taking up a lot of space on the stairwell and fire fighters were having some trouble getting by them.

The blind man decided it was best to let his guide dog go, so he would not be slowing down the fire fighters. He said he went down a couple flights without the dog, but then his dog came back for him.

I imagine the dog was going down the flights of stairs keeping an eye on him, and once he got out of sight, the dog decided to go back to get the blind man. I was definitely a little misty when they showed the dog walking back up the stairs in the re-enactment.

    Dogs are awesome.
    Very good story.
Dogs really are terrific companions. IMO...they never let you down.(except when they find a way through the 3000 feet of fencing you put up.....go to the neighbors porch....drag a 4 foot potted plant back(with the pot) and decide to chew on it on the lawn .....much to late for you to realize it and spare the embarrassment of having to explain it to your neighbor! )

On a more selfish note relating to your post....I wish he would have slowed down a few more of the brothers.

Anyone have an issue with their dog after he/she receives flea treatment? I just mean the stuff you apply yourself between their shoulder blades and base of their tail. My dog always acts so awkward after I apply the stuff, like he's uncomfortable all day & night, and continues to seek comfort from me, which I'm happy to oblige, but feel like it shouldn't be necessary.

              Yep.

Not with my current dogs....Nickie or Chloe....but with my dog that passed away, Smokey.....she would act very differently ....agitated almost.
It was so much when she got older that we stopped giving her those treatments and went with a collar and a lot of checking instead.
She seemed very uncomfortable from the liquid preventative meds.

Yeah, agitated is the perfect word. He kinda twitches a bit, makes me not want to give him the treatment, but 1 unpleasant day is better than being infested

I've started my pup on the combo guard now. I figured since she gets the heartworm pill monthly anyway might as well do the combo instead of the liquid flea preventative. I always hated how greasy her fur would be for a solid week after the liquid treatment.

Couple pictures of Dre. First one is from tonight, I have no idea what he was doing.

Second one, he fell asleep half on/half off the couch. Guessing it was a rough day of lounging around the house.

We've had Gemma for a little over a week now and she's been making some great progress as far as going to the bathroom outside and general training goes. She's only had one incident in the house and hasn't had any incidents in her crate since early last week.

She is a boxer/Labrador mix (Boxador for those that aren't breed snobs). We didn't really notice how much smaller she was than the other pups of the run when we got her, but we did Friday night. My girlfriend's brother adopted the other two pups that were in her pen at the SPCA. Friday night the whole family got together and it was very hectic, but it was nice to see Gemma run around with her family and have some puppy play-time.

Having never raised a pup before what is the growth progression typically? I'm just curious to see when Gemma will start getting growth spurts and how big she may get because her paws look huge and if she grows into them she'll be a stout dog.

Find out how big your puppy will be when he's fully-grown. Use our unique Puppy Weight Predictor to get weight estimates for any breed of dog.

That will give you a rough idea of what to expect. Theres a few others out there and just average them out if they're different.
