Don't think I've posted pictures in awhile. Just a few from last month.

        Beautiful dogs, guys!

I had a dog (puppy) twice when I was a kid. And both times it didn't last long since my mom didn't like it and we had to take it back after a little while.

Anyway, does anyone remember this show? I used to watch it as a kid. Don't remember much, just that the dog was smart and would save the day.

Haven't posted a picture of Dunder since he was a puppy, now he's 15 months old, 100 pounds and likes to sleep a lot.

Dre is about 95 pounds (and still gaining weight), and Quinn is only 80 or so depending on how lazy he's been and how much food he's eating. I can't imagine having a dog that only weighed 5 pounds, Dre was 30 pounds the day I got him, and he was 3 months old at the time.

You take some great pics! You also seem to have two very well behaved pups, that or you run them around until they're dead tired a lot.

Thanks! Howie was pretty tired when I buried him, but yeah they are very well behaved. We did a lot of training with them when they were young so that we could always take them places with us. But the beach did make things easier, they would chase their ball and catch the frisbee all day wearing themselves out.

We have a Chiweenie too. When we got him he was no bigger than a roll of toilet paper. We thought he was going to be really small, but two years later that SOB weights about 20-25 pounds.

My condolences. Losing a pup is like losing a member of the family. Found out last week one of the dogs I fostered, who had only found his forever home earlier this year (after waiting nearly 2 years), was diagnosed with cancer and passed fairly quickly after the diagnosis. It was so sad, that dog was awesome, and even though the pup wasn't my own, I know it was heart breaking for the owners as he was a very good dog.

Hope you get another dog. I try to keep two of my own, and then foster one or two more. If you do find room in you world for another, please consider adopting or rescuing one. Many time's it's cheaper, you're not supporting puppy mills (which are horrible), you're saving a life, and all dogs have the potential to be great ones if we put the time and effort into training and teaching them.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.

I don't know if it was too soon or not, but we ended up getting two dogs already. Pictures of the day we got them are in post #827 and 834. The plan was to just get one, but when we saw these two brothers we knew that we didn't want them to be separated.

We did get them from the Baton Rouge Animal Shelter. They gave us a "Buy one get one half off deal" and they came neutered/chipped so that worked out well for us. As much as I want a French or English Bulldog, I just don't ever see myself getting a dog anywhere other than the shelter. There's too many good dogs that need homes... it's heartbreaking really.

The only bad thing (and it's a small price too pay honestly) is now that we have four dogs, it cost a fortune to kennel these guys when we go on vacations. If anyone knows a dog/house sitter in the Baton Rouge area let me know.

                              Re: OS Pups Thread!

Watching one of these 9/11 specials on History Channel, they were talking to a blind man and his guide dog. The blind man was in the WTC when one of the planes hit, he and his guide dog were going down the stairwells with everyone else. But because he and the dog were walking side by side, they were taking up a lot of space on the stairwell and fire fighters were having some trouble getting by them.

The blind man decided it was best to let his guide dog go, so he would not be slowing down the fire fighters. He said he went down a couple flights without the dog, but then his dog came back for him.

I imagine the dog was going down the flights of stairs keeping an eye on him, and once he got out of sight, the dog decided to go back to get the blind man. I was definitely a little misty when they showed the dog walking back up the stairs in the re-enactment.

                              Dogs are awesome.
