    Re: OS Pups Thread!

It's been good and bad times in my crazy Boston Terrier house over the past few months. The bad news is that my boy dog Howie died suddenly over Thanksgiving. Totally out of the blue and one day shy of his 11th birthday. About 30 minutes after getting home from a vacation in Japan he had the first seizure he ever had and never came back from it. The day that I left for Japan I had an early birthday party for him at his dog camp, so glad I did that. Ended up with a really good last photo of him with sisters Miley and Winnie.

After a few months we added a new little guy to the bunch. This is Kirby! I wasn't actually looking for a new pup just yet but my older dog Miley has gone fully blind and Winnie was left with no one to play with. Well, one of my breeder friends contacted me one day and said that this little guy was available and I went down and got him the next day. He is actually Winnie's nephew, so that's fun.

Having a puppy in the house is always fun and he and Winnie just love each other. They are like two Tasmanian Devils running around the house. Winnie never got to play like this when she was a puppy (she's two now) since Miley and Howie were older and wouldn't have any of it

Speaking of Winnie, I've been competing her in agility competitions lately. She's not quite the star that Miley was in her day, but she shows flashes from time to time. I'm actually expanding her performance events to lure coursing and dock diving, both of which she loves. What dog doesn't want to run as fast as they can and jump off docks into water? lol

As for Miley, she's hanging in there. She's had it rough the past couple months. She had some cancer come back and this time it decided to come back right behind the only good eye she has. She was totally blind a couple years ago but then I got her cataracts surgery to fix the one viable eye and so she could see again. Of course the cancer decided that was the eye to get in, so her eye had to be removed last month. Miley is such a trooper though, nothing really gets her down. She'll be 12 next month, hopefully it'll all be smooth sailing the rest of her days

Great looking pictures of the pups AUKevin! I always have had a soft spot for the Bostons. Unfortunately, I always feel like I see too many of them coming through the ER. Hope the pup continues to fit in well! What a cutie!

        Re: OS Pups Thread!

Was happy to track down and prevent a lil hound puppy from [probably] getting run over earlier today.

See, I was walking my dog and came across a dog w/no leash (tsk tsk). Dog was also without an owner, but had some tags so I knew it wasn't a stray. Anyhow, this little pup was full of energy and hard to catch. Actually ran across the street before I could grab it by the collar. Was a girl dog, black&tan hound mix named Lulu. Called the 2 phone numbers (no address) listed on the dog tag...no answer. Called the local police and they were just about to send the humane society out as I was holding onto it by its collar the whole time...when the owner came trotting up and got the pup.

The thought of that little pup becoming road kill made me keep chasing it. Wish I had taken a pic...was a cute puppy. Score one for the local dogcatcher, yours truly.

          Re: OS Pups Thread!

Figured I should finally post this here.

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. I live in with three roommates, and their two dogs and cat, but due to my work schedule, I'm typically up late at night alone. After much consideration, and after losing my girl Molly two years ago shortly after I moved out of my mom and dad's, I decided it was time to fill the void and get a companion. Went to the local animal shelter after my doctor appointment just to look around.

Fell in love with this girl. She was a puppy mill dog her whole life, she had her teeth extracted (this is standard at puppy mills so they don't bite the other dogs/people while breeding); she didn't even have a name until she got to the shelter. They named her Penelope, which obviously didn't stick lol. All they knew about her was that she had been in a puppy mill, and they think she's about 8 or 9.

          This is my sweetheart, Yuna.

I'm glad you could give her a good home, Jazz.

Me too. Makes me happy to make her happy and feel loved. She's still very shy and timid, but she's coming around. She stayed at my mom and dad's from last Sunday up until Friday while I was on vacation, so they got to work with her a little bit.

Shelter said she didn't have any potty training whatsoever, but she's doing remarkably well for me right now. Just has had one or two accidents in the house while I'm at work is all; otherwise she's been able to do her business outside every few hours. She can sleep on my bed all night with no accidents or anything.

She's already prancing around the house like she owns the place. Her strut is something else lol

Agreed. They're grateful for everything. Wish I could track down the douchebags who hurt her, see how they like living without any teeth

My wife and I lost our Shih tzu of 7 years (was 2 when we adopted him) suddenly right after New Years. It's been tough, I lost pets as a kid but this one has by far been the worse. My wife and I don't have kids so he was kind of like our child if that makes sense so maybe that's why. Even after a few months now I still expect to hear his little paws coming down the hall when I fix a sandwich which without fail he would always do. My wife wants another Shih tzu and I do as well, really love their character and personality and Lucky had plenty of both.

                        RIP Lucky duck!

I’ve had dogs my whole life while my girlfriend has always wanted one but never had one. She finally got her first job offer after grad school, so we’re finally making her dream a reality.

Meet Norbert. He’s a Morkie, a little over a week old now. Breeder says he should be opening his eyes today or tomorrow. We pick him up at the beginning of June.

I can’t imagine doing your job. Thank you for helping all the pups and cats that you do.
