And getting a credential in California is not easy! But the schedule kicks butt. I am lucky because most teachers have to take work home. I can't becasue of the confidentially of the students. So we have a lot of prep time to get it all done. Plus no parents at all. So it is the best in my opinion.
I live right outside of chicago and its not uncommon for a teacher to start at 45k a year with 5-10% yearly raises. Teachers are retiring making well over a 100k year till they die, its crazy.

Also, the big thing is teaching drivers ed cause during the summer your making something rediculous like $40-45 an hour.

I clear about 65,000 a year. But I have two masters degrees. Well almost 2; I will have my second on in Jan. 2010. And I work the summer too. And have been teaching with the distinct for over 8 years.

Yeah I figure out that I make about 45 an hour. Which is pretty sweet. I able to have a nice life.

I just started working again. After spending years as a student, musician and a vagabond I forgot what it was like to watch the clock just waiting until I can clock out.

Anyway it comes and goes. Capital is the key to all dreams I know of. Especially if you have debt from school like I do. So I would advise to be smart with your money, develop a plan when you are secure and can start to slowly ease of your boring job and do soemthing you love. All about planning.

These days there is no 9-5 anymore... it's 24/7 because of iPhones, Blackberrys, email, etc. Especially in the IT field. Server crashes late, you're done.

In development I'm lucky to avoid that mostly...yeah, there's sometimes deadlines and working late and whatnot, but I know quite a few people tethered to their Blackberries and it keeps them on 24-7. They don't pay me enough to be 24-7 lol

              Fortunately I love my job.

I'm a Sales Manager for a company in cellular retail that is now number one in Canada. I work a lot, but I'm still very young compared to you guys and get paid a healthy amount. I put it a lot of hours, but I still get some time in with my girlfriend so she's not always going off.

I usually work Tues through Sat, 930 to 530 or 1230 to 830.

When I'm not working, my guys are usually calling me needing help with something or I'm replying to Emails from the company.
