Re: 7 dead 12 wounded in shooting spree

The evidence seems to be growing towards this being an act of terrorism.

They are saying that the guy shot 45 people in the few minutes before the police showed up. To my knowledge, doctors don't get any weapons training as they are non-combatants, so it is surprising that he had to be shooting 3-5 people per second to shoot that many people in that period of time.

This guy had never been to Iraq on active duty, so I don't know how he could have post-traumatic stress syndrome.

Also, the guy's name is reported to show up on several radical Islamic posting on the internet.

Several witnesses have claimed that Hassan shouted, "Alu Akbar" before shooting.

We'll see how it all develops.

I hate Call this Terrorism In the sense that we call 9/11 Terrorism. As Soon as the FBI labels this as a Terrorist Act, many of our Dumb countrymen will take it upon themselves and Harass Innocent Muslims. After 9/11, Mosques were burned Muslims were targeted because of their Religion, And I do not believe that we have evolved as a country not to do this.

I think terrorism is a very broad term that means something different to each person.

I'd say this is more Columbine than it is 9/11.

I have no idea about this and can't get a good google search going right now.

I don't think he has PTSD, but could have become unnerved while working with those who have it. Imagine working with people who have seen some horrible things and are telling it to you in detail. Every day in your work you are going to get someone's horrible experience dropped into your lap.

Religious preoccupation can be a feature of psychotic behavior.

              So uhh...

...I used to hang out with this chick. Worked with her at Domino's Pizza when I was in college at UNC-Wilmington, and also worked with her in a capacity that I'm not sure would be appropriate to bring up here.

She was always a real sweetheart but also a tough chick, one of those types that wouldn't be afraid to tell it like it is. She wound up working for the Wrightsville Beach Police Department and I lost touch with her shortly thereafter. Glad to know she's doing well after saving who knows how many more lives yesterday, and I'm proud to have once been able to call her a friend.

It's just so surreal that someone I used to hang out and party with is now considered to be an American Hero.

                  Pretty cool TJ.

My nephews said she was hell on wheels. She took a round in her leg and hit the guy with 4 shots. God knows how many lives she saved. I'm glad she's alive.

I'd agree with you if those killed at Columbine were murdered by an Islamic Jihadist screaming "Allahu Akbar."

I'm not really sure why we all have to walk on eggshells here and "not jump to conclusions." As Ralph Peters said today:

When the terrorist posts anti-American hate-speech on the Web; apparently praises suicide bombers and uses his own name; loudly criticizes US policies; argues (as a psychiatrist, no less) with his military patients over the worth of their sacrifices; refuses, in the name of Islam, to be photographed with female colleagues; lists his nationality as “Palestinian” in a Muslim spouse-matching program, and parades around central Texas in a fundamentalist playsuit — well, it only seems fair to call this terrorist an “Islamist terrorist.”
But nobody will, because we're too busy PC-ing ourselves into oblivion. God forbid we offend anyone by calling terrorism terrorism.

We have a guy who didn't want to go to the Middle East because he didn't want to harm Muslims. So instead he kills a bunch of Americans. Looks like a terrorist act to me. Wonder if he planned on killing himself? I hear he isn't talking. I say we do some water boarding on him !!! Just for fun....

Re: 7 dead 12 wounded in shooting spree

                        Terrorism – ter·ror·ism (tĕr’ə-rĭz’əm)

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Just my opinion but Nidal Malik Hasan unlawfully used force and violence against people with the intention of intimidating societies and government for political reasons… I call that terrorism.

Keep in mind he claimed he was upset with the idea of going to Iraq and having to fight and maybe kill other Muslims,so he decided to MURDER several American soldiers instead. He was upset he might have to shoot extremist Muslims, but it was perfectly OK with him to kill a bunch of American soldiers?

The guy was a doctor and apparently a poor one as he had receive a poor officer review from Walter Reed before being transferred to Ft Hood. He was a doctor, not a medic, so it’s not like this guy was going to be in the trenches fighting the Taliban. He was going to be in the rear with the gear… or as it’s called in the military a REMF (Rear Echelon M.F.)

I see his family is running around saying he loved his country. Really? He was born in America and claimed at his mosque he was Palestinian. Yep that’s love of America, claim your Palestinian, kill a bunch of American soldiers.

The media is now saying that since he was an Army Psychiatrist ,he was suffering from PTSD because he had to hear about the “Horrors of War”. He has never been deployed, never been in combat and the media is claiming PTSD over doing his damn state-side job?

Bottom line. He was a traitor to his oath and he attacked American soldiers on American soil. Death can't come fast enough for this terrorist.

JD...you know the White House is going to do anything it can to keep this from being portrayed as what it really is.
