I can't fix a car but if a car company makes a piece of crap I have the right to complain. I don't make TV shows or movies either but I'll still comment on whether I like a show or not. The same thing can be said for every industry out there. Just because I can't design a video game does not give a developer a "Get out of Jail free card". It doesn't mean a developer should be attacked personally or that people should be rude either. But people can still critique a product even if they can't make it.

I totally understand your argument. You are sick of the complaining as are many. But your solution of "go make a game yourself" really defeats your points because it's so unrealistic and hypocritical. Like I said earlier, there are a ton of things we criticize in real life that we couldn't make or do.

It's funny how we all loved games like NBA Live 95, Tecmo Bowl, etc and yet they weren't close to being a sim and had lots of flaws. Our own expectations have grown so much that we allow ourselves to get disappointed. We want the game to be fun AND sim/realistic AND have perfect stats. I'm guilty of that as well. The fun part should matter far more than anything else.

Again, if you apply your logic to video games or anything else in life you better be able to do everything or else you can't complain about it. I go to a restaurant I frequent often, my food is undercooked/overcooked. Using your logic I shouldn't complain but cook the food myself.

There are a lot of good points made by OS'ers (some with, some w/o blue names) mixed with a lot of BS but I know for a fact that the good points have led to better games for us, the consumer.

did Henry Ford complain to the guys building steam powered cars back in the day.. "build a better steam car damnit, you guys are incompetant, lazy douchebags"... no he went and built something better... it's capitalism baby, if you don't like a product, don't buy it or build a better one and sell it.

If that restaurant continues to F up your food, don't go there... no?? is this not common sense. And if you don't like any of the restaurants food, then hell ya, you eat a ham sandwich at home, just the way you like it.

All this complaining is not part of the foundation of the American culture i grew up in... it's getting so bad these days, i get sick to my stomach watching the news sometimes.

Okay guys, how do you explain NCAA Basketball 2010?

Can anyone tell me in a full dev cycle how they add absolutely nothing to the game. NOTHING. No customizations, no modes, no dynasty additions, no redshirts, no new animations.... NOTHING

and this from an NBA Live code that was already built, then charge you 60 bucks for it?

Anyone explain to me how this makes sense for me as a gamer?

I'm not convinced that the complainers actually want a fun game. I think they want a flawed game so they can bitch and moan about sliders, sock colors, endzone art, AI, etc. These people will never be happy, they exist to be miserable and love it (deep down inside). At some point games turned from fun to nitpicking just to nitpick, and I'm glad I'm not a part of that group.

I game for fun, you guys should try it sometime instead of getting your ruler, calculator, and NFL stats from the past 200 years out so you can complain that the rushing yards per game is 1.2 yards under the league average.

All games back in the day were flawed...there was a day when people could just deal with it and still have fun. Sadly, for some reason, the wrong art in an endzone ruins the experience for someone. Boggles my mind how this is true, IMO people just need to relax.

*not targeting rudyjuly2 at all, his post just made me think about all the complainers out there, so not referring to anyone specific*

As Dr. Jones said earlier in the thread, game companies look for the back of the box feature...with that said, NCAA 10 it looks like they blew their budget on implementation of ESPN and CBS presentation.

I'm not absolving them, but I'm sure the fact licenscing cost so much led to their budgeting and time management not being applied to gameplay improvements.

Spent most of their time working on things like sim stats, 5 star recuits and upsets not being so easy to obtain.

I didnt think they meant most of the time. SMH

In my job, my work gets criticized by co-workers and the public. Many of them are clueless. I used to get bothered a lot more when I was younger but at 37 I do a better job of tuning the dumb complaints out.
I agree (I'm 37 as well), but if your work gets criticized by bosses or colleagues, you have to address the problem. If your work gets criticized by strangers on the internet, and you can't truthfully respond to the criticism without either getting in a flame war or putting your job (or someone else's) in jeopardy, it's easier to just ignore it entirely. That's the danger of personal attacks on forums, because some devs will react by saying, "Why bother?" and no longer check them, meaning legitimate, thoughtful criticism might go unread.

I guess in some ways I've never gotten used to internet etiquette. I like to approach all my posts as if I'm actually talking to someone face-to-face, and by and large, most OS'ers are the same. When I read an IGN forum, or talkback for ESPN and TSN articles, it makes me cringe. Who are all these people who are so angry and stupid? 12-year-olds? Drunken college kids? Chimps who learned how to type (badly)? Ugh. Sometimes I feel as if the zombie apocalypse can't get here soon enough.

mgoblues last post has to be post of the year here at OS IMO...it's so freakin' true. I remember how much fun we had with tecmo bowl and that game was one of the most unrealistic football games ever made, LOL. I think Ian or someone from EA brought up the point that as the games become more realistic looking and playing they are actually less fun because you stop enjoying them as games and begin putting them side by side real life and they aren't able to compare to real life yet without showing major issues. This is true of ALL games not just sports games. I think sports gamers just have more tangible things such as stats to be able to compare and show the glaring deficiencies.

Honestly, and I know I may take some flak for this, I have always tried to enjoy a game for what it is. I don't let the game be ruined for me by very many things. I remember a few years ago names didn't work online for NCAA and that did pretty much ruin the game for me for online, so I'm not saying there aren't some things I can't tolerate, but I always ask myself bottom line if I'm enjoying myself and if I am then I keep playing and try not to focus on the negatives.

I think so many folks here should try to just enjoy the games for what they are instead of analyzing them to death. Now by no means do I mean you shouldn't ask for improvements, because that's how the games improve, but at the same time when you are playing quit trying to find so many flaws and just enjoy yourself. Maybe what some of you folks on here need is a beer or two to relax a little..heh.

BTW - the above post may explain why some folks call me an EA apologist or are mad everytime I say anything positive about the football games when I get an early release but it's just my viewpoint on things in general. There are plenty of ultra-negative people on here I think who can rip a game to shreds for every little flaw to balance out the ODoggs and folks like me on OS. In fact I think myself and those with my viewpoint are in the severe minority if anything.
