When I used to work in NY it would happen all the time. same stuff. Dude is like I need money to fix my car and get me and my sister to Iowa.

Occasionally if I have some change, Ill give it up. I wont give like 10 bucks or anything crazy.

whats always funny is most of the time Ill give them some change, and then all the way to work i will be putting the peices together in my head like wtf, if his car is broke, ok but why does he need to stand in the middle of the street and ask for change, even if I was stuck out of town and my car broke, and I didn't have any money, I would end up begging for change, I would ask the auto place if I could like work it off or something.
Yea or ask if they could do a "payment plan". I understand the compassion some people have over others. But I just don't think it is healthy to give and give and give. It is one of the biggest issues in this country and why social security will be gone soon. Everyone has to take care of themselves and if they can't do it. I should not have to pick up the slack. Now I am not talking about a good guy who got laid off and has worked 30 years and can't get a job in 6 months. I am talking about the system lifers. The ones who spend years and years just floating by on someone else dime. Learning to abuse the system like having many kids for tax purposes, using others kids for tax purposes, food stamps, WIC , medicare, and other government programs. All these programs do is breed laziness. Tighter approval process would help for the ones who truly need it and not ones who are using it.

Because in the end every single one of us are paying for the homeless, system lifers, and these government programs. Our tax dollars are floating that family who has been on food stamps for life. Mother applies, child gets old enough they apply, next child gets old enough they apply, etc. It is a horrible situation these "give away" programs have caused.

Teach people to work and give them less and 90% of the mentally healthy people WILL work. They won't sit home collecting a check and food. They would be out trying to find a way to earn money. Only draw back to cutting back on government programs would be crime. Crime would rise a great bit, because many are so lazy they would resort to stealing and what not for their needs rather than work.

Wal-mart is couple blocks from my work. I go there 2 to 3 times a week to get subway. Well it is very disheartening every first week of the month. I go there and it is unreal packed. Everyone has got their food stamps and just stocking their baskets higher than the sides with great food like steaks. They eat better than I do and most don't even work. Why should someone skate by on my tax dollars eating wonderfully while I am a hard working productive citizen and don't get the luxury of having all the excellent meals they get to eat (granted I can buy them, but not in the quantity they can).

Saw nothing offensive as well. didn't know some think "Da" was an racially offensive word. First heard it used on SNL..."DA Bears"..and those were usually a bunch of white men in the skit. Some people...are being too sensitive or maybe just too quick to judge in this case.

I remember one time I was at a Shell station and this woman came up asking me for a ride somewhere giving me some sob story and I was very reluctant to help her but finally I did the entire time worrying if I was going to drive somewhere and get killed. But a few months went by and I was at the same gas station and the exact same woman appeared with a man asking me if I'd put gas in their car, I filled up a small gas can and gave it to them, and never went back to that gas station for gas ever again.

A couple of years ago while I was waiting to get into work on Mother's day early in the morning(I worked at a buffet), a guy came up to me while I was waiting in my truck asking for a ride home. He had evidentally broke his hand in a fight in a bar and had gotten out of the hospital which was next door. For some crazy *** reason I decided to give him a ride about 10 minutes away. Looking back that could have been a bad situation, but he was cool about it luckily.

I was in downtown Chicago with a good friend of mine. We were heading into a burger joint when this guy comes up asking for money for food. I tell the guy no, my friend tells the guy he'll see if he he has any change left over. While we are inside ordering food my friend just decides to buy the guy a burger.

We get outside where the guy is and my friend hands the guy the burger. The guy gets mad and says he wanted the money instead. Now my friend is 6'3 around 250ish pounds , he has a short temper and is known to be quick to fight people that anger him. My friend takes the burger out of the guy's hand, unwraps it and proceeds to try and force-feed this guy the burger, while my friend is doing this he is cursing this guy out telling him how ungrateful he is. After that my friend proceeds to punch the guy several times. That bum got an old-fashioned @$$-whooping.

All the time this is going on I'm just standing there speechless. When my friend started to punch the guy I tried to talk him out of it but it was no use. We both look back on that situation and laugh.

The simple fact is these people grow up using the system to do NOTHING. Telling these people what they are doing to the working american is not about being cool. It is about being "real" with them.
