Dark 'n Stormy: Ginger Beer, 2 oz dark rum Gosling's Black Seal is the traditional and best to use), over ice

Otherwise it's bourbon/Scotch/whiskey or cognac "mixed" with ice... I also have the occasional gin and tonic (I'm partial to Bombay Sapphire or Hendrick's). There's a restaurant near me that makes its own tonic and it's un****witable.. lemongrass and stuff, just amazingly tasty.

I love a good martini too, but I never make them really. It's an occasional drink for me and I pretty much only get them at crusty old-fashioned type bars because they know how to make a real martini instead of these vodka-filled shaken fruit contraptions sullying the name. I like them very dry with a super small spritz of vermouth (like pour some into the glass and then pour it out) and a fancy olive (love the ones with prosciutto/cheeses in them and stuff).

Normally I stick with jack and coke's but I have acquired a taste for a few exotic (to me at least) mixed drinks.

Bluberry Vodka and Sprite is pure heaven. Drank this as a pregame for a Kings of Leon concert and it was great.

Pineapple juice, vodka, and a splash of cranberry.

Normally hate vodka but those are the only 2 ways I can ever drink it.

Ahh I almost forgot...I do drink Vodka and Red Bulls if I go out and had work in the morning. Nice little pick me up to fuel me throughout the night. But like you guys said I can only have one or else I'm bouncing off the walls.

vodka+red bull is my usual drink of choice, but you are right, it usually ends with a terrible hangover the next day

Ha-ha. Yeah. When my best friend got married back in December of '05, I went down to visit him and we had his bachelor party on Bourbon street in New Orleans. I still have the large plastic bong-like glass they give you and the pamphlet that describes what will happen to you after each Hand Grenade you drink. lol. Good stuff.

For mixed drinks, I've actually started to make my own liquers. While I was out in Rome, Italy for a work meeting, I was introduced to a liquer out there called Lemoncello. It's a lemon liquer that is REALLY strong, but incredibly good tasting.

One bottle of 190 proof alcohol
                      Two cups of water.
                      Two cups of sugar.
                      Two pounds of lemons.

Take the alcohol and run it through a Brita filter a few times to filter out any of the harsh tastes that will find their way into the cheap grain alcohols. Do the same with your water, or purchase some distilled water to use.

Take your two pounds of lemons and wash the living hell out of them with warm/hot water and scrub them thoroughly. Do NOT use soap or any vegetable washing compound on them. You just want to remove the pesticides and wax coating put on the lemons. If you get organic lemon, then they will have no wax or pesticides on them so it's even better.

Dry the lemons, and using a zester or a fine grater, zest each and every lemon. You want to remove all of the yellow zest but don't include even the TINIEST bit of the white pith. Even the smallest amount of pith on there will make your end product horrifically bitter. So it is best to leave some of the yellow zest on the lemons than to be too aggressive and get a little bit of the white pith. When done, you can just juice the lemons and make lemonade for the kids.

With all the lemons zested, you take that zest and put it into a jar that has been heavily sterilized. (Either rinse it for a bit with some grain alcohol, or put it in a boiling water pot for a while. It doesn't have to be canning-jar sterile, but you don't want any bacteria in there.) With the zest in the jar, pour all of your grain alcohol in there. Seal the jar, and let it sit in a cool, dark place for two weeks minimum. (One month is the best). Every other day or so, shake up the jar to redistribute the zest. After only a few hours, you'll see the grain alcohol turn yellow in color but it won't fully extract for at least one week. It will be finished extracting after about two weeks and the zest, depending on how finely you grated it, will basically turn white.

After you've let it sit and extract for that time, filter the alcohol/zest mixture through a moistoned cheese cloth (so it doesn't soak up the alcohol you just spent two weeks or more obtaining). Once it's all run through, squeeze the last bits out of the cheesecloth and discard the empty zest.

Get your two cups of filtered/distilled water and put the water into a sauce pain and add the sugar to it. Heat the water until all the sugar dissolves and let it heat for 15 minutes. You're making a basic simple syrup here. Once it's heated for the 15 minutes, let it cool back down to room temperature.

Now pour this room temperature simple syrup into your lemon-filled grain alcohol and mix it up. Let this raw Lemoncello, tightly capped, sit in your freezer for at least 24 hours before using. Also, keep it stored in your freezer. This stuff is best served cold. The drink is great straight up with a lemon wedge on the side as a dessert type of drink to be sipped. It is quite strong (since it's made out of grain alcohol) but is amazingly smooth and great tasting.

Another mixed drink that I kind of discovered while emptying out my liquor cabinet is what I call a mocha-coke.

Take two shots of a good dark rum and mix it with two shots of Kahlua. Mix in one shot of chocolate liquer. Top off your beverage glass with some Coca-Cola. You get this mocha-flavored drink that tastes great and gets the girls running over to you instantly.

Usually I do vodka with a splash of orange.

But for those accustomed to the 7 & 7, you may want to try that with a splash of pineapple. I have found it gives it a little better taste.

Yeah it's normally the highest-ABV vodka you can find (some people use Everclear but most like the taste of a slightly lower ABV vodka). The bit about filtering is basically the difference between a premium vodka and a crappy one. So you can get some gutrot 190-proof stuff and run it through a filter a few times and then dilute it and it's pretty quality. Then adding all the delicious lemon oils and flavor along with the sugar to sweeten the mix makes a great liqueur.
