Anybody try orange soda with rum? Its really good. When I want something a little different than Captain and Coke, I'll use orange soda instead. It reminds me of a dreamsicle.

Re: Mixed Drinks Recipes Thread
Man I had some stuff that was intense on Thursday. It was vodka + lemon juice from sliced lemons + sugar + ice.
Poured half a bottle of vodka into a pickle jar. Cut, squeeze, drop lemons. Not sure how many seemed like 5. Pour in sugar. Put in ice. Seal. Shake for a long time. The rule was you drink you shake(don't touch the lid!). I had only a couple of beers, but once this thing gets passed around you a couple times since it gts to you. You are really just chugging flavored vodkaComment

I was watching Mad Men last night (drinks galore) and one of the characters was drinking milk with vodka. Yum, lol.

Take 1 pound of lemons (Typically about 12 medium sized lemons) and zest them all. (Be 100% certain that you don't get ANY of the white pith in your zest. The pith is HORRIFICALLY bitter and the smallest amount of it will be VERY noticeable in your final product).
Take all of the zest you got and put it into a large, sealable pitcher. (You need enough room to hold all of the vodka and the simple syrup).
Let the zest and vodka mix for at LEAST one week. Longer is better, and a full month is the best amount of time. Every few days, shake up the pitcher to ensure distribution of the lemon zest in the vodka. After only a few days, you'll notice that the vodka has taken on the yellow color of the lemon as well as the odor.
After the infusion time is over, pour the infused vodka back into the vodka's original container for now. Use a filter if needed because your zest is fine. Just make sure there are no solids in the vodka.
Clean out the original pitcher and pour the lemon infused vodka in there. Add to it an equal amount of simple syrup. (Made by mixing an equal part of water with sugar and bringing to a simmer until the sugar has all dissolved).
Mix it thoroughly and store in the freezer.
The stuff is very good and not acidic at all since you didn't use the lemon juice, only the zest which contains all of the flavor. A simply great dessert drink.Comment

Re: Mixed Drinks Recipes Thread
Being that it is summer here in south Louisiana and hot as all hell. I been on a Gin and tonic kick. Good summer drink, real refreshing and taste great.
I switched from Bombay to New Amsterdam gin. I am really really liking it over bombay. Bombay is more dry and the Amsterdam has a slight sweetness to it that makes it a great mixing gin. Plus $23 for a handle is not bad at all. I personally find the Amsterdam is better than the bombay.

I used to never drink Red Bull and Vodka just because Red Bull is expensive for a chaser, but have started to more and more because the cheapest bar near me has a Always on special for 2$ vodka bombs.Comment

Yeah, I've heard Vodka + Red Bull isn't that healthy for you because they're making your heart/BP do two different things.
