Hmm I'm real tempted to conclude my second round of p90x to do this. I'm only at week 5 now but this looks real tempting. I haven't lost any weight and I'd like to take off 10-15 lbs maybe as well as get more toned. It's always easier for me to put weight back on anyway.

I might just do this into May or whatever and then reload p90x or start legitimately lifting.

I'm looking to shed about 15-20 lbs. I'm about 6'5" 210 trying to get to a solid 185-190 as I'm starting to get a little pudge. How restrictive is this diet? I hate being too restricted (kinda goes for most aspects of my life lol). The cardio only appeals to me a lot. I'm wondering if this could do the trick for me. What does you diet consist of? Sorry for all the questions.

This is definitely an easy way to have more weight loss if that is what you are looking for. I've been doing the opposite of the diet and increasing my portions so I don't lose the weight, but lose the fat. It's working out so far - No weight loss

I did Day One of Insanity after not working out for about 6 months. It ended in me laying on the ground for about 20 minutes, then getting up and vomiting in my toilet.

That was the last time I used Insanity.

That's the joy of it! Your body is so accustomed to not being worked this hard that you have to get back in shape. This is the usual for those that don't stay active. Even myself... for the fit test, I was chugging along and needed a good amount of time to recuperate my energy. The biggest thing - water. You really need to be drinking water throughout the day. If you don't have water and eat your meals, you'll never be able to survive. Working out is more than just the 45 mins you spend doing the motions... it's about preparation as well.

Pure Cardio was pure hell. Easily a difficult workout that just wouldn't stop.

I'm going to restart all over again today, however, since I went away and enjoyed snowboarding a little too much. I'm just as sore from that.

There is not Insanity Ab Workout. It's mixed in. Unless I haven't got to it yet...

So I'm almost two weeks, still sore every morning but I certainly feel my core being a lot stronger (chest,stomach,back).

1/4 of the way there. Very happy about the results so far.

I lost 3-4 pounds but I'm trying to get it back. I don't want weight-loss, just definition and tightness of the muscles. This is certainly giving me that.

Keep your comments flowing about Insanity. I'm on P90X right now (7th week) and I'm looking to try something else when I finish my 90 days. I've really enjoyed P90X and have lost 6 pounds so far. I'm 6 feet and weigh 177. I'd like to get down to 165 with ripped abs. I'm not sure P90X is gonna do this for me. However, there's no way I'm quitting now!

My question for you is how crazy is Insanity on your lower back. I've had a bulging disk in my lower back since last year. Its gotten better with doing exercises. I've been able to survive P90X so far but I just worry how I'd hold up with Insanity.....

Why in the world would they call a fitness product insanity? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results. Isn't that backwards of what a good exercise program should do? Shouldn't you want to do the same thing again and again and expect consistent results?

Like Brankles said I tried the insanity also after not working out for a long period of time...i really dont suggest it...you WILL vomit.

I started this past Sunday. Definitely harder than I thought it'd be. He's like "Let's warm up" and I'm like "Oh, this'll be easy. It's shorter than p90x and we'll spend 5-10 minutes warming up." Little did I know the warm ups were super intense and practically non-stop for 10-15 minutes. I almost died. But so far I've lost like 4.5 lbs in just 5 days.

I have a good amount of muscle mass already from years of lifting and p90x has been superb but i want to get super lean!!!!

The shorter length workouts will be more managable for me and mrs as well.

You're just sending you body into shock. The vomit is a good thing. It will subside, typically after just the first workout. Don't let that stop you from getting back into shape. Make sure you drink a TON of water throughout the day. Your body is also not used to losing so much and I'm sure you're not making sure there is enough in your body pre-workout.

Yes, the shorter workouts are a joy! Certainly ideal for getting cut. My abs are forming better than when I did P90X and I'm getting more compliments on my physique. Plus I'm losing some small love handles I noticed creeping up over the years.

I'm not Mr. Muscle or anything like that, just looking to stay in shape as the years go by. Don't want to be out of shape one day without realizing it.

Week 3 is over.... there was an additional exercise to Pure Cardio this week - Cardio Abs. So awesome. I like a lot of the exercises more than P90X. Looking back, I think both of these programs compliment each other. Although I don't know which is the one I'd suggest first. I think if you're heavy, P90X should be your first step because this is more intense. If you're somewhat lean and want to shed some fat first and THEN bulk up, I'd go with this and then P90X.

I did the first workout yesterday and really like it. It's basically Tabata Method with some slight modifications, good 'ol HIIT. I hit the wall on the second round of burpees, struggled to finish the circuit and had to take some breaks which I'm very happy about. I need a challenge and I'm glad there's room for improvement. I was never close to puking but of course there was a ton of heavy breathing and sweat, just like with any HIIT stuff.

I was worried about the more intense warm up before any type of stretching, I could feel my hamstrings getting ready to spasm towards the end of the warm up. I also feel they go through the stretching way too quickly, you're holding some of the stretches for 10 seconds, that's too quick for most people, definitely for me. I need 30 seconds for most holds so I'll have to make some slight modifications but it's all good.

Insanity gives you the same long, extended burn that any HIIT provides. I did the workout around 2:30pm and could still feel some effects from it at 10pm last night. It's hard to describe, it's almost like the blood is flowing through your veins more vigorously . You just feel different, I don't know how to describe it.

As for my chronic knee/back issues, my back feels great after doing it. Keeping the core tight and landing softly did the trick. I'm a bit worried about my knees but we'll see how it holds up over the two month program.

It does make P90X feel slow, boring and non-challenging IMO, but I did P90X for nearly 7 straight months which is not what it's designed for. You'll get bored of doing any program for seven consecutive months. But I never got the "Damn, I'm completely wiped out" after a P90X workout, even after doing Plyometrics at full speed. It's also nice that these workouts are half the length of P90X, doing an hour and a half workout every damn day is just too time consuming, even for an exercise nut like me.

One question: Seeing as this seems more of a cardio then weights program do you think i will cause muscle loss if i'm on a cal deficit? Are there still pushups etc in this program?

There are still push ups, burpees, etc. I don't like the idea of doing push ups at max speed, rushing that sorta thing will lead to injury. My left lat feels stiff and weird today - and not in a good way - after doing the burpees a little too quickly yesterday. I'm probably going to take today off from any of the push up exercises in today's workout.

I don't know if the program will lead to muscle loss though, I highly doubt it will as long as you eat enough.

Anyway, after just four workouts I've already noticed a big difference in my performance on the bball court. When you get older it's like your quads and hip flexors have a switch on them, they can be turned on or off in about a week's time based on exercise or lack there of. Just doing Insanity for four days got rid of my tired/dead/heavy legs on the court. I was so much quicker laterally and especially off my feet and my second jumpability (gotta throw out some NBA draft terminology every now and then lol). Can't wait to see how I'm moving after 60 days of it. Noticed some nice difference in my abs already too.
