    Re: Insanity

Yeah it's already a fair bit better but not 100%. I'm tempted to do another workout this arvie but should probably wait til tomorrow at least. I don't think I'll restart the whole week, I'll just keep on ticking them off the calendar and keep on trucking.

I think I definitely have one of those all or nothing personalities when it comes to this sort of thing. Like on days when I'm working out my diet is near perfect and I don't drink booze etc. On days when I can't workout for some reason my brain goes 'great seeing as you are not doing the fitness thing today you might as well have that chips followed by that ice cream and a few beers.' I tend to be really good or really bad and never in middle. Def something I have to work on because two days of being 'bad' can ruin a week of being 'good'...

        Re: Insanity

Those are pretty decent numbers for the beginning imo.

What is the diet like, I haven't even looked at it (its at home and I am at work)? Is it a low carb plan or something?

          5 meals avging 300 calories a meal.
However, i want to gain and not lose, so I am eating 600 calories a meal.

But its what you expect, everything Whole-Grain, nonfat, only water, fresh fruit.
It just stinks cause its small portions.

Holy cow, it recommends 1500 cals?! I want to lose weight, and calculated it to like 2300 cals to lose weight. Seems like you should have more cals to work with, ESPECIALLY if you want to gain, as you're going to burn a TON of calories with this. How much do you weigh right now? I'm at 6', 195 pounds, so if you weigh a lot less, that could explain it.

The biggest thing to worry about with it is calories anyways. This workout is so intense that you don't have to worry quite as much about the little thing, IMO at least. I'm definitely eating healthy, but if I have some extra cals for the day and get hungry, i'm not afraid to have a sort of treat. Mind you, it's nothing crazy like a big candy bar, but i'm not die hard about eating perfect foods.

              Re: Insanity

Yeah 1500 cals seems crazy low. You have consider you'd be burning probably 400-500 cals per workout at least so that's really only 1k cals per day. That may be enough cals for a 5'0 100lb woman but it wouldn't cut it for a full grown male i wouldn't think.

Sure you'd drop weight like crazy but it was be hard for me to even get through the workouts on that little amount of food.

Sorry I should have been more specific.
That was the example they gave in the book.
I mean, they list a lot of 300 calorie meals, and then you can add on certain things to up the calorie content.

So like I said, I was calculated at 2000 something, but wanted to gain so added an extra 100 per meal or something.
                Put me at 3300.

                BTW I am 5'10" 160 right now.
I am also taking whey, and beta alanine before my workouts.
Then taking whey, casein protein after my workout.

Sounds like you're on a similar plan as me. I'm looking to gain rather than lose...which means 5-600+ calorie meals a day. Really difficult to do when you work in retail and are trying to make those meals healthy.

I'm screwed right now anyways. I have been sick the last three days, can barely do anything without hacking up my lungs. Had to skip today's workout and I see no reason why this will be gone tomorrow as it isn't letting up. I have a feeling I may end up having to restart :/

Just curious. If you guys want to gain weight how come you're doing Insanity? I think p90 would be better for you in terms of putting on muscle.

Its not so much gaining weight as it is "getting cut."
However, i dont want to lose weight and want to get in better sports shape.
So I felt insanity is better for me and I just will eat more than i am supposed to (still healthy and sticking to the plan)

                        Alright. Just finished day 2.
                        That was pretty freakin hard.

I pushed as far as i can go (sorry "in the end" just came on)
and it hurt all the way to the end.

I'm on week 2 of month one on my SECOND time doing this program and for a guy who couldn't keep up two months ago, to a guy who could (on my best days) be in the video.....

I used to die during these workouts....now I don't get exhausted until there's about three minutes left before the stretch......

That's awesome man, thanks for sharing your results. I hope to get to that level myself.

Do you plan on doing this program for a long time?

Week 3, Day 2: Plyo Cardio Circuit complete.

This week is throwing me way off. I'm on day shift for the week where I am normally on nights, so i'm waiting until after work this week to work out. I usually wake up, take a caffeine pill, and have a granola bar and small protein shake and just go. Now this week, i'm working 8 hours before I work out. I definitely have to muster up more energy to complete the workouts. Something about just waking up and going makes it easier for me to get through the workouts.

Either way, I feel better and better after every workout. I'm able to push harder for longer periods of time. That's the thing about this program as many people have stated. The more in shape you get, the more these workouts kick your butt, as you're able to stay in longer to the point of exhaustion before taking a break.

I plan on completing the second time through by September 1st and then I'm going to just do elyptical and weights until January 1st. I'm getting in great shape and all, but I can't imagine that the jumping/landing is good for your knees year round.....

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's a lot of up and down, so the elyptical/weights will be a good break until the New Year...I'm gonna keep the six days a week schedule though....that's what really keeps things going....no down time.
