I do feel slightly better. Just have this feeling of a heavy burden on my back that won't go away and my brain can't stop thinking about it. Just thinking about why didn't I just keep the back end of my car slightly out of the back end, then if someone hits my car it's their fault? Why did I have to try and park there? Why didn't I just park in the bank parking lot since it was after hours and if the car WAS towed, big whoop? All these questions that I can't answer, but I keep asking myself. Ugggggh.

My parents called after I left them a message and told them what happened, and they gave their condolences which made me feel a bit better, but god this still irks me. They say bad things happen in three, so getting up every morning is now a scary thought.

Things are always tough, my man, but just rest assured that things can AND WILL always get tougher. It's these times that define you as a person so you have to ask yourself if you'll let something like this bring you down or push you forward. It's very hard to be positive nowadays with so many things that are wrong in the world but just remember, you get what you put in. If you put in negative energy or expect something to go wrong then more often then not you will get it in return. Try to maintain a positive state of mind and condition yourself to succeed and persevere.

I too was just letting you know it can be a LOT worse. I know your problems are pretty bad when compared to how life usually is, but we all can look at someone who has it a tremendously worse. I met a woman whose husband did the same thing to her as my wife did to me, only she came down with breast cancer right after he left. Count your blessings and try to give your frustration over to a higher power. Sometimes we face things which are too much to handle without a little help from the man upstairs.

You'd be able to save a ton of money if you bought the bumper yourself, had someone paint it, and installed it yourself.

Not really that difficult to do.

Trust me, if all it is, is a bumper, then you wouldn't save that much money putting the bumper on yourself, and I work at a body shop so I do know what I'm talking about.....Unless the body shop owners are crooked.

As others have said, hang in there and it'll get better. But to be honest, I was expecting to read something a lot worse than that. Read some of the other threads on here. You could have it a LOT worse. Your problems are just everyday things that everyone goes through from time to time. It's not even comparable to the problems some people have on this board. Not trying to be rude, just saying. I've had my fair share of rough stretches, but I came to realize that those problems were nothing compared to a lot of other people in this world. My dad was layed off from his job a few weeks ago and he thought his life was horrible, then the Haiti Earthquake came, he called me and said "you know.. I thought my life was bad, at least I'm not trapped in a bunch of rubble right now fighting for my life."

So anyway, hang in there. It will get better. But to answer your question, even though I basically already have, yes your life could get a lot worse than it currently is.

Trust me, if all it is, is a bumper, then you wouldn't save that much money putting the bumper on yourself, and I work at a body shop so I do know what I'm talking about.....Unless the body shop owners are crooked.

Buying a bumper yourself, having it painted and mounting it yourself can save him anywhere from $200-$300 dollars easily.

And it would look just fine. Honda's are one of the easiest cars to work with.

Yes, it would, but then the fact that the bumper was replaced by a non-authorized Honda person would result in my warranties for anything in that general area of the car being voided. If the car wasn't a new car still under the five year warranty it came with (And being a hybrid I wanted to make certain that it was fully covered under warranty), then I'd have done this myself as I could see where to attach everything again. But if I was going to keep my warranty active in case something mechanical goes wrong over the next four years or so, I had to have it done by a Honda authorized shop.

The shop called today and said that the bumper is the only damage. No damage to the engine compartment or frame, like I had expected and hoped for. Since I bought the car from the local dealership, I was also able to get the Honda Preferred Customer price for the parts. So the total repair will cost me $1,014 dollars for parts, labor, paint, shipping, etc. I get to loaner car for free as a part of the repair job, so that's pretty nice. I keep my warranty, the cost of the repair isn't through the roof like I had expected, and I should have my car back in about a week. So some good things are starting to happen.

No, I understand your situation, just explaining it for Schism. Not worth saving the money and voiding your warranty (which I don't know how true is that, I've done plenty of work on my own car and it didn't void anything).

Heh. I meant that there was no damage to the engine compartment, and the fact that there was no damage was what I had expected and hoped for. Must have left a word or a puncutation mark out of there.......
